Let’s not be fooled, Bayern Münich outplayed us by some yards. The only problem was, as with all teams coming back from a holiday. they were rusty in front of goal and Jamés Rodriguéz still had the jitters.

We need to up our game and be as efficient and strong as Bayern if we want the Premier League this season. Better still, the Europa Cup.

We have a game with our London rivals – The Chavs – tomorrow, and though they might play a slightly weakened and maybe ‘Morata-less’ team tomorrow, we need to be more clinical in front of goal.

Moving on…

We took it upon ourselves to give you Gunner tourists directions on how to get to the Beijing ‘Bed’s Nest’ Stadium this afternoon.

Mind you, considering the mammoth crowd Arsenal events pull, you’ll need to get there at least three (3) hours early. This is so you can have brunch close to the stadium or within the stadium before you join the teeming crowd.

[gap height=”40″] [tabs style=”h1″ ] [tab title=”The Venue” ]Beijing National Stadium, officially the National Stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest, is a stadium in Beijing, China

Address: 1 National Stadium S Rd, Chaoyang Qu, China, 100101 ‘

Capacity: 91,000

Construction started: March 2003

Architectural style: Deconstructivism

Architects: Ai Weiwei, Pierre de Meuron, Jacques Herzog, Li Xinggang

Did you know?: In spite of the lack of significant events, the stadium appears to be quite profitable, drawing some 20,000 to 30,000 people a day at the price of a 50 yuan admission.

Also, the main designer, Ai Weiwei is China’s most famous political dissident; a provocateur and a troublemaker whose clashes with the Chinese government have gotten him harassed by police, thrown in jail and driven out of the country. He says he regrets building the stadium.[/tab] [tab title=”How To Get There” ]These directions are from Beijing Railway Station which is the most popular in the city. It takes an average of 1hr 53 minutes to get to the stadium; this is not considering traffic. [/tab] [tab title=”Hot Spots” ]China National Convention Center Grand Hotel

Great Wall of China at Mutianyu: Start from Mutianyu is more greeny & beautiful stunning view than start from Badaling. This Gate stretches 25KM & 22WatchTowers spaced between each end. So it’s not an unusual route & not crowded. – Venny F. Venistine

The Forbidden City[/tab] [tab title=”The Teams” ]Arsenal FC: The club after our hearts. 13 time FA Cup Winners and the glory of North London.

The club’s new signings – Alexandre Lacazette and Kolasinac will most likely feature but Walcott will not as Le Boss mentioned in his presser today.

Chelsea FC: Aka ‘The Chavs’, this team won the English Premier League and have a pretty solid team. We beat them in the FA Cup final though, and we’ll gloat over that forever.[/tab] [tab title=”The Managers” ]Arsene Wenger: The Sage. This man is the longest serving manager ever in the English Premier League and is the last of this breed considering the tantrums club owners throw.

Antonio Conte: The tactical maestro from Sicily. He is clinical and knows how to grind out a win.[/tab] [/tabs]

We found this restaurant by accident because we were looking for something close to the Olympic station. We were the only non Chinese in the restaurant. The menu is very large and includes many special dishes like turtle soup, abalone and donkey. We had the shredded chicken, pork with peppers and spare ribs in rice flour. All dishes were excellent. Staff is very attentive and friendly however none spoke English. –Amsel

The good thing about this restaurant is that there is a pictorial menu, which makes ordering easy.
As it is Japanese, the waitresses are dressed in faux kimonos, which is a bit different!
The food is the normal Japanese fare and can be washed down with sake or a choice of Japanese, Chinese or western beers.

Ate in this restaurant for 3 weeks whilst on business trip. Lots of choice from the menu and the buffets. There was a large team in Beijing at the same time and we never had a bad meal between us. The staff are very friendly and service is top notch. Rarely waited for drinks etc.
There was one evening when they ran out of french fries. They advised us promptly – we made new selections and they even brought as some Peking Duck as a sampler whilst waiting. They also prepared a delicious fruit basket in a sugar basket – which was divine.
