It was always going to happen wasn’t it??

It was just a matter of when? How long could we keep that run going?

How long could Mustafi be our lucky charm? How long would they keep saying we haven’t lost a game that Mustafi has played it.

Oh well, that was it. That there brings us to the end of that Mustafi run.

To think Mustafi himself would have preferred that record to be shattered by a bigger club, maybe Chelsea in our next game and not a Watford side that had just been dumped out of the FA Cup by Millwall. Tragic!!!!

The thing is, Wenger has always found a way to disappoint us on Transfer deadline day. Remember that one where his mates were trying to sign players and improve their teams but he went off to Italy to meet with the Pope? or the one where he chose to go for a UEFA coaching seminar on deadline day? or yes yes this one is amazing, the one where he kept our hopes up all month and then ended up signing an Injured Kim Kallstrom on deadline day.

Those are just a few of the things that readily come to mind but this one was even worse, losing a game on deadline day, a game that should have taken us closer to Chelsea on a night where they dropped 2 points. I cannot even blame Wenger for this, the whole team had to take the fall for this defeat. One would think after that 5-0 thumping of Southampton the team would be in high spirits and come out firing on all cylinders.

Sadly, it was Watford doing all the firing as they were 2-0 up by the 13th minutes thanks to 2 goals in 3 minutes from Kaboul and Deeney. Oh that Deeney goal even gets to me the most, where was everyone when Capoue was waltzing through our midfield till he got the chance to shoot at close range?

In fact, I am not even going to lash out. Arsenal would not make me angry on the first day of a new month. No, No, it’s not working.

Watford were fabulous in the first-half, snapping into tackles, clinical in front of goal and determined to protect the lead once they had it established.

‘It was not good, especially in the first 20 minutes,’ conceded Wenger. ‘We were not mentally ready to win the physical duels. We knew it would be direct and physical. They were sharper than us.

‘We lost a bit of patience in our build-up and exaggerated the individual game. Every time we passed the ball quickly we created dangerous situations but we all wanted too much to be the savior and didn’t stick to our game.’

Arsenal were jeered off at the end and Alexis Sanchez performed his now-familiar sulky flounce down the tunnel.

There was no redemption for us this time though, there was no coming back from this one, that Iwobi goal seemed to spark a resurgence, Perez hit the post, Gomes had to make a couple of saves and all but this one was going to end in defeat. Watford defended like their lives depended on it and maybe it actually did.

We play Chelsea next and as much as I’m not a big Ramsey fan, his knock yesterday might have left us a little threadbare in midfield, hope he’s back in time for that game.

Okay I know I said I won’t lash out but what was Ramsey doing trotting behind Capoue as he went on to shoot for the second.

Allow me to stop myself there before I start a melt down.

I’m out of here, oh by the way, Happy new month to you guys.

Do have an amazing month.

Cheers.

…….and there I sat as I watched her walking away from me for the umpteenth time, the love of my life but yet she always finds a way to pierce my heart, even break it many times.

For some reason, I always run back to her at every opportunity just because, True Love😏😏.  We were just getting back together after the last split up and I was beginning to believe in her again, I was beginning to believe that maybe this time, our relationship would last. Over the past few years, it had become a trend for us to have a fight and split in November but this year seemed different, November came and we stayed strong, had some quarrels but quickly resolved them and I was beginning to believe again but little did I know it was just a hoax.

Now as she walks away again, I don’t know if I should still believe in her this time or just try again next year🤔.

To be honest guys, that’s how it feels being an Arsenal supporter, they just know how to crush a mans spirit.

We seemed to have everything in control yesterday but look how fast things took a turn. We went ahead early thanks to that Walcott goal and it seemed like we were on a roll, we were going to nail this, we could have even gone 2-0 or 3-0 up in the first half but bla bla bla, the first half ended 1-0.

We all know how horrible the City defence has been this season but only Arsenal can make that same defence look like it was manned by Juventus players. We just could not penetrate them, they seemed perfect  but watch as that same City defence would face Sunderland next week (or whoever they are facing) and concede 3 goals.

Second half came and it was almost as if the players were forced to come back out. They looked slow, dull, uninterested and with that lackluster performance, it was only a matter of time before we threw the game away.  Some 6 minutes into the second half and City tied the game thanks to that Leroy Sane goal, offside (yes he was offside, I mean was that linesman blind or what??) or nah, we shouldn’t have fallen away that easily.

After the goal, we became even worse. City remained in our half for long spells and I could almost smell the goal was coming, so I wasn’t even surprised when Sterling made it 2-1 (another controversial decision but what does that matter now?).  At that point, I already knew it was over and we were just lucky not to have conceded more.

Now just look at Arsenal. In the space of a week, we’ve moved from 2nd place to 4th and 9 points behind league leaders, Chelsea. It’s almost as if we postponed our November breakdown and only just decided to do our November in December. This looked like the season when we would put up a fight and push Chelsea to that title, maybe even winning it in the process but look how fast we are crumbling.

If we can’t win the big boys, how do we expect to sail through this season? Already, we have played Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea and ManCity and in those games, we have won just 1, drawn 2 and lost 2. That there doesn’t seem like a very good record against all the big boys for a team who wants to win the league this season.

To be honest, I don’t know what to believe again with this Arsenal team. Is this still our season? Can we still catch up to Chelsea? Are we missing Mustafi? Is Coquelin-Xhaka even the perfect midfield fit? Should Gabriel be starting ahead of Holding? Is Cech past his best?

All of a sudden, questions are flying in from everywhere and the faster we answer them and fix this mess, the better for us.

Wenger tried to blame the referee for that game but Referee or not, we were poor in the second half, our performance dropped and that cost us, simple.

Fix this boys, Fix this real quick.

Have a nice week people.

Hi guuuuysssssss!!!!!

So I had an extended weekend and boy would I move for the government to add one more day to the weekend. First, today feels like a Monday (only because yesterday was a public holiday) and most importantly I feel so energized for today and yaaay the week would be ending soon, so either ways another weekend is coming our way. whoop whoop

Don’t get it wrong, I’m not lazy??, I just feel like we humans should be entitled to as much rest as the time we actually put into work.

Wait!! Why am I writing this again??? Ooohhhhh yes, I was to talk about Arsenal being drawn against Bayern for the umpteenth time. To think I had already written a book in my head about why we should get more days added to the weekend.lol???

So yes, back to Arsenal vs Bayern. This is not even a drill people, We are facing Bayern again!!!

Coincidence?? Sheer Luck?? I can’t bring myself to think which one it is, but when a particular team keeps popping up in recent years from the supposed ”draws”, you can’t help but suspect foul play.

Why even bother doing the draws, when we already know who we would be facing. We finished 1st for crying out loud, shouldn’t that count for something?? I’m not even scared of them or anything, I mean, Rostov beat these guys but I just feel we should have gotten them later on, if at all we were going to play them. Save the best for the last, Isn’t that what they say??

So yeah, we’ve faced them 3 times in the last 4 seasons and we have come out with tears in our eyes on previous occasions but not this time brothers and sisters!!! Oooooh I say that again, not this time. Come on repeat after me, say ”Not this time”???. If for anything, no one does 4th better than Arsenal, so yes I’m excited to face them and actually have a strong conviction in my heart that we would go through this time.

There are many ways to do the permutations; draw in Germany, win in England; win both legs; win one, lose one but go through by away goals; the list is endless but for what it’s worth, I think we have a shot this time and if you have a doubt, you should start believing too.

I don’t know about you guys but yes, I’m tired of travelling to the Allianz arena (not like I’ve gone there before tho???) and I believe the team would be too, maybe even more than I am seeing as they are the ones doing the actual travelling.

Even Bayern knew they were going to face us, remember the night we finished first??

I won’t even be surprised if they booked their tickets already before the draws came out.

Meanwhile have you guys seen our fixture list for early next year, adding Bayern to that mix?? meeeehhhhnnn, it’s crazy guys!!! We have to be at our very best at that period to come out unscathed.

Just take a look at this >>>>

Feb 4: Chelsea v Arsenal (Premier League)

Feb 11: Arsenal v Hull City (Premier League)

Feb 14: Bayern Munich v Arsenal (Champions League)

Feb 18: FA Cup fifth round

Feb 25: Southampton v Arsenal (Premier League)

Mar 4: Liverpool v Arsenal (Premier League)

Mar 7: Arsenal v Bayern Munich (Champions League)

Mar 11: Arsenal v Leicester City (Premier League)

Amazing and mouthwatering fixtures innit??

Anyways, what I’ve been trying to say with the other 551 words before this is that. we really should get one more day added to the weekend.

Goodluck to the boys as they play Everton later today.

Do have a nice day guys, Cheers.

It was the the 23rd of November, on a cold night at the Emirates and we had just finished playing PSG. A game which was going to determine if we finished top of the group or not, after coming back from that early Cavani goal, the game ended 2-2. PSG were going to finish top of the group and  as the referee blew the final whistle, our chances of finishing top of the group left the stadium with the fans, or so we thought.

gun__1479933490_1_711x400-4

For the final game of the group stages, we were facing Basel which we were almost certain to win, while PSG were going to be up against Ludogorets whom we had thumped 6-0 earlier and it was in Paris. So trust me, it was fair to say, all hope was lost.

Fast forward to Matchday 6, the stage was set, Basel v Arsenal, PSG v Ludogorets. We went to Switzerland to just do our part, win our game, keep the momentum going, while not expecting much from the other result. We started with a strong squad even though there were 6 changes to the team that thumped West Ham 5-1 over the weekend but then that’s what you get for having a strong squad??.

The job was simple, come here, play your game, win your game and keep everyone happy. It didn’t take long for that job to get underway though as we were already 1-0 up by the 17th minute thanks to that goal from Lucas Perez. It was Arsenal football at it’s best and even more for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th goals. 4-1 it finished on the night.

Lucas Perez had to be the champion of the night, grabbing his first Arsenal hattrick, what a man he was last night. Scoring goals and still putting in a decent shift to help Gabriel when he had to. Iwobi got the 4th goal which was his first champions league goal and boy did he need that. Lad was already getting low on confidence and it’s always a confidence booster for a player like that when he gets a goal.

3b1c5a2800000578-0-image-a-3_1481055363607

On the night tho, we were amazing all through, every single player doing their bit. From Ospina to Sanchez, Gabriel was amazing at right back, Holding was fantastic, well save for that one second-lapse when he let Doumbia go but for a youngster on a big champions league night, he sure did well playing alongside Koscielny, Gibbs was one of the best on the night and even got himself a nomination for man of the match, Ozil and Sanchez as always were unreal, every single player, even Ramsey.??????

For all the goals, Sanchez, Ozil and Gibbs seemed to be the constants. Those guys were phenomenal on the night and I just wished it was possible to share that man of the match award between themselves. They all equally deserved it.

3b1c89b300000578-4007036-image-a-19_1481056634954

Ozil and Gibbs getting assists on the night and each assist was even better than the last but amazingly, the assist of the night came 354 miles away in France, where Bulgarian side Ludogorets grabbed a gutsy 2-2 draw against Paris Saint-Germain which allowed Arsenal to move above PSG into top spot. Ludo did the impossible and robbed 2 points off PSG, to think they almost took all 3, if not for that last Di Maria equaliser. It was too surreal, Ludogorets had taken two points off PSG and were going to finish the group on top?????.

It’s been so long I don’t even know how that feels anymore.

Whether finishing first is a major advantage in Monday’s draw for the knockout stages is a different matter, with Bayern Munich among the group runners-up and Real Madrid currently second in their group, too. ‘I don’t know the other results yet, but we can still have a difficult draw,’ admitted Wenger.

‘Anyway, it will be difficult but with less guilt when you finish first. You feel you’ve done the job and can play the second leg at home. So we have achieved that.

‘But the draw is not much different (in terms of the potential opponent), certainly at the moment. And I cannot complain tonight. I’ve had bad nights in football and tonight was a good night.

‘Overall, we came here wanting to do the job, wanting to play well. On top of that we were lucky with the result at Paris Saint-Germain, so it was a positive night.’

Whoever the opponent is come Monday, I would like to think we are ready for this.

So yes, walk through today with a smile fellow Gunners.

*Walks out singing ”we are top of the group, la la la la la*

????????????

First off let me start by saying a happy new month to you guys.

It’s December, whoop whoop??, Christmas is coming, Santa? is coming, the year is ending soon. That’s a lot to be thankful and happy

So now that’s out of the way let’s talk football.

Today is Friday *another reason to be excited* and that means football is back tomorrow and this always brings me some excitement. We play West Ham this weekend and I think now would be the best time to play them seeing as they just lost 4-1 to United in the league cup.

Oops plot twist, this is a wrong time to play them because after that loss, they’ll be trying to redeem themselves and not lose 2 games in a row. So contrary to what you think, this is going to be a very tough game. With players like Andy Caroll coming back from injury, you can expect them to be firing on all cylinders, or to at least fire on one cylinder.

Now that is not what I’m here to talk about, I’m here to talk about November, our cursed month, our hoodoo month, the month where it has been said that we always lose it all and have our lowest points tally. So how about we take a look at this past November together, walk with me*In DJ Khaled’s voice*

At a first glance, you would readily say we didn’t fare badly in this November compared to the other ones, seeing as we lost only one game in the whole month, which as the last game of the month and it was even in the EFL cup, I mean, who takes that seriously? durrhhhh!!!

Now take another look at November and you’ll see that it wasn’t too far off when compared with previous years. We did horribly. Yes we played 6 games and lost only one but then we won 2 and drew 3, meaning we finished the month with 9 points from a possible 15, add that quarter final exit from the EFL and the month wasn’t so pretty now was it?

We were joint top of the league in October and now we are wallowing in 4th position, this is not a coincidence is it? We really do love 4th spot. We had a chance to top our Champions league drop but we just had to draw with PSG and let that slip away. Now we have to hope PSG lose when match day 6 comes and try to win our game too so we can top the group. hahahahaha. We are here again aren’t we.

Oh November, why do you have to be so cruel??

Not only were our results not fantastic this month but we also got injuries, to key players???.

3aeeab7900000578-3993182-image-a-64_1480675322999

I was just here listening to Gambino’s new album (permit me to say, that album is amazing, y’all should go and listen to it) when I saw the news about Santi being out for a minimum 3 months. Like how???? Why us?? what have we done to deserve this??

Cazorla, Bellerin and don’t even get me started about Debuchy who after making a long awaited return from injury, only lasted 15 minutes before going off injured and now he’s out for an estimated 6 weeks??. Also, there’s Elneny who picked up a sickness and had to be taken off in the first half during our last game, add Giroud who picked up a knock against Bournemouth and is likely to miss the West Ham game to that list and that’s a very long and annoying list of injuries.

On the bright side though, Welbeck is back in training, while Lucas Perez returned from injury and got to feature in the Southampton game. Finally, some positives.

Now look at November again and tell me what you think?

– 4th in Premier League ✅

– 2nd in CL group ✅

– Injury problems ✅

– Struggled in November ✅

– Out of League Cup✅

It’s almost like the script was written some years back and the writers are too lazy to write another one.

Oh well, thank God December is here. It’s time to forget November and move forward starting with that game against West Ham tomorrow.

Good luck to the boys and get well soon, to all the guys in the treatment room.

NOVEMBER!!!

NOVEMBER!!!

NOVEMBER!!!

How many times did I call you????

What have we done to deserve these things??

It’s amazing how things just don’t seem to go in our favor this month.

By now it’s no news that we have our lowest points tally in November, in 78 November games, we have only managed to garner 1.59 points per game. Compare that to March which is our highest with 2.18 points in 72 games and you’ll understand why there is so much fuss about November.

After Arsenal closed out October by clinching yet another league win, beating Sunderland 4-1, Arsene Wenger offered a comment that opened up a bigger discussion than he realised.

“We now have difficult games coming up, with a difficult November,” the Frenchman said. “So, by the end of November, we will know more about ourselves.”

We will see whether his team has overcome a problem that has undercut them since he took the job 20 years ago. It is the problem of November.

The drop-off is too large and constant to be a mere coincidence and it goes right back through Wenger’s reign. In his first full season, in 1997-98, Arsenal’s run to a league and cup double was almost over before it even started, rumbled by a bad November. Wenger’s side lost three of four games, including a 3-0 thrashing to Derby County that left them four points behind leaders Manchester United.

Allow me not to bore you with details from all the November’s we’ve had since Wenger took over in 1996 but remember last season, we didn’t win a single game in November, it was the first time it had ever happened since Wenger took over Arsenal. In fact, we could only manage a total of 0.67 points per game.

This was going to be the November to come out tops, this was going to be the November to Remember but as it stands right now, things have already started going awry. I mean we were starting the Month with a game against Ludogorets who we had thrashed 6-0 earlier in the Champions league group stages. Like it or not, we were lucky to win that game and after going down 2-0 in the first 20 minutes, we came back to win that 3-2 thanks to that brilliant 3rd goal from Ozil.

Up next was the Spuds… We couldn’t win that and ended up sharing the spoils of war. 1-1 that game ended. Still to come in this year’s episode of “The chronicles of November”, we have Manchester United, PSG, Bournemouth and Southampton.

Surely one would look at these and say we could do well but then when you factor in the fact that major players are struggling with injuries, Cazorla, Bellerin and now Alexis Sanchez, you begin to have some doubts.

Yes we have a large squad, Xhaka is done with his suspension and can readily fill in for Cazorla, Giroud can claim his starting spot now that Sanchez is out but Bellerin??, no offence but we only have Jenkinson and that I am not comfortable with.

I really don’t know how to feel about this month but I choose to remain optimistic and I thin you should too. I mean, we’ve played 2 games and have gotten 4 points so I want to believe we can do better.

Yes we have injuries and might get some more but I choose to believe we can turn it around.

We are said to have our strongest squad in a long while and people are even saying we might just win the league this season, who knows??

One thing is sure, if we are going to end that Premier League trophy drought this season, we would need to defy all odds and have a very healthy November and that starts with getting 3 points against a ManU team that would be without Smalling and Bailly through injuries and Zlatan through suspension.

It can be done guys.

Stay Positive……

It’s official people, Hector Bellerin has signed a new contract.

Whoop whoop??????

As much as signing new players is very important, I like to think keeping those you already have is also very important as it’s a major key for building stability and team cohesion and I cannot be happier that this Bellerin deal has been done and dusted.

When reports of Barcelona hovering around for the 21 year old Spaniard started to originate, it became imperative that we showed Hector we were serious about keeping him and tie him down to a new contract.

How glad I am that this has been dealt with swiftly.

Bellerin has put pen to paper on a deal worth in the region of £100,000 per week, inclusive of bonuses.

Hector is one of those true bloods we have and it’s important to keep such. Yes, he got signed from Barcelona at a young age but I doubt we want to let this one go back to the Nou Camp any time soon, how amazing to know we still have him for another 6 years.

City tried to sign Bellerin during the summer but Arsenal wouldn’t entertain any offers for their talented right back, who was signed from Barcelona in his teens.

Pep Guardiola was ready to launch another effort to land Bellerin next summer but will now turn his attention elsewhere.

Now that this deal is completed, it’s over to Sanchez and Ozil now. Making those two sign contract extensions has to be top of the management’s list right now.

An agreement for a five-year deal worth in the region of £200,000 per week seems to be all but confirmed for Ozil but getting a deal for Sanchez seems to be taking a little more longer than expected.

We can only hope those deals are sorted out as soon as possible so these players can fully get their attention back to the football and away from off field matters.

Just a reminder to Barcelona and the others, #BellerinIsOurs #BellerinIsAGunner stay away!!!!

Yaay it’s match day again.

i’m so excited, I mean who wouldn’t be?? After the horror of the last international break, here we are having games back to back to back. What a joy that is.

So we face Ludogorets today (I hope I got the spelling right??), on paper they look like the whooping boys in the group but we all know how these things work.

So far they have just one point from 2 games and they sure would be looking to increase that. I got a glimpse of the boys in training and they all looked very excited. Good for us, Ramsey and Giroud are both back in training but they are short for the game today and we could expect to see them in action soon.

Back to the game though, The Ludogorets captain has been very vocal ahead of the game today and for some reason he feels his team can upset the gunners. I don’t know if he’s just trying to give them some confidence or he actually believes they could pull off an upset.

Ludogorets captain Svetoslav Dyakov is confident the Bulgarian champions have highlighted Arsenal’s weak spot – even if he believes the Gunners are one of the best teams in the world.

Dyakov reckons they can cause a shock against Arsenal having not been drawn on their weaknesses, even if he feels Arsene Wenger’s side are among the world’s elite.

‘It is a unique stadium and every player dreams to play here,’ he said on the eve of the contest.

‘Arsenal are one of the teams which are playing some of the best football in the world, they can play their style of game against Barcelona or anybody, there is a lot of movement, a lot of passing the ball. It will be a pleasure to play here against them.

‘Teams like Arsenal have very few weak spots, our coach has given us the information and I can’t disclose it. If we have some luck and play well, we can expect something from the game.’

‘Arsenal is a very good team, I personally respect the manager Arsene Wenger, 20 years his name is connected with Arsenal and he has achieved everything with this team. We are going to come out and play like we have in the other games we have had.’

Some bold words from the man there, their last encounter in the Champions league was against Liverpool and they lost that game 2-1 courtesy of a last gasp Steven Gerrard penalty. I believe our boys would not be complacent in anyway and would take this game very serious.

Arsenal have lost only one game in 7 months, winning the last 6 and I don’t think they would want to add another one not in the least against Ludogorets.

As much as we should take this game serious, I believe this is a good chance to rotate and hope players like  Perez, Holding and even the Ox would get a chance to start the game.

Good luck boys.

Till later, do have a nice day.

Oh my, what a nervy game that turned out to be.

We were facing a Swansea team that we hadn’t won at home in ages and boy was that not even going to help with the confidence of the boys plus they had a new manager who was going to try to win his first game at all costs.

Before we even start talking about the match, I want to say a very happy birthday to our very own Mesut Ozil, we are blessed to have you donning the Arsenal colours and it was even an amazing sight to see you bag that goal on your birthday. Perfect present for you and one for the team too.

So back to the game.

Thanks to that beautiful Ozil birthday goal, we were able to win Swansea at home, something we have found very hard to do in recent times.

Wonderfully lofted pass from Sanchez, Ozil belter and goal, Arsenal were 3-1 up.

It started like a game we were going to dominate and run away with. Dominate we did but runaway with, that we couldn’t.

As usual we had possession from the beginning of the game and it was only a matter of time before we were going to penetrate that Swansea defence and get ourselves a goal or two.

We only had to wait till the 26th minute before Walcott pounced on a gift from the Swansea defence to make it 1-0.  Fast forward 7 minutes and Walcott was there again to make it 2-0.

We were on a roll, this game was going to be a walk in the park or so I thought till Xhaka tried to do too much at the back and lost the ball to Sigurdsson who made no mistake in putting the ball into the net to make it 2-1.

That there was the beginning of it all for Xhaka. To be honest it wasn’t the best performace he’d had since he first put on an Arsenal shirt and his game could be summed up with that red card he picked up in the 2nd half. Many would argue it wasn’t a red card but none can deny that was very silly from Xhaka.

The game was already at 3-2 as at that time thanks to goals from Ozil for Arsenal and Borja Baston for Swansea. Swansea missed a couple of chances and could easily have levelled the game but we saw out the game and took all 3 points.

Good game in my opinion, well save for the fact that we didn’t keep a clean sheet and Sanchez didn’t score and that silly red card from Xhaka.

Big ups to Walcott for getting 2 goals today and he could easily have made it 3 but for some poor finishing on his side and some good goal keeping too.

All in all it was a good game, we saw the real Arsenal play today, the one we know and have come to love, the one that could be dominating one second and falter next second.

I mean, what fun is there in watching an Arsenal game if your heart doesn’t skip a beat once on twice.

Good to see the boys finally get one over The Swans at the Emirates.

Up next, the Champions league.

Have a good night rest.

Ciao.
