Good morning all.
Welcome to the last day of 2015.
It seems like yesterday when we started 2015 but booyah, it’s 365 0f 365 already.
Wow, just wow.
Anyways, it’s been a year of mixed emotions for our beloved Arsenal and while I would love to talk about winning the FA cup for the 2nd consecutive time and how Sanchez turned to a beast in his first season, I’d rather talk about now.
Now, on this day, the 365th and last day of 2015, we are top of the league, albeit on goal difference.
But who cares about that, we are top of the league and that’s all that matters.
We still have a host of first team players injured and I truly cannot wait to see us play even better when we have them back.
It’s been an amazing sight seeing how the team have pulled together and stood strong in the absence of those players.
We might be top now but it’s being top after week 38 that really matters and that has to be the goal.
Having Cech has really solidified the squad and I’m really happy for him breaking that clean sheet record, totally deserved.
Yes we conceded 4 against S’oton the other day but we all know it was one of those days.
All I could deduce from that game was that the guys had obviously had too much to eat on Christmas day.
IMO that defeat to S’oton was good for the team, it should’nt have been 4 tho but then it happened already.
It sure did tell the guys that they were not untouchable and needed to be on their toes every time, not resting on their oars.
The much improved performance against Bournemouth seemed to tell us they had learnt their lesson.
Speaking about Bournemouth, I was really happy to see Gabriel get not just his first goal for the club but his first in Europe.
You could see how happy he was to have bagged that, dude could have even torn his shirt in joy if he had the chance.
He could owe that to an Ozil assist tho, the german later got a goal for himself.
After which Giroud said he was happy to have swapped places with the assists crooner seeing as he gave the assist for the Ozil goal to make it 2-0.
That’s that about that.
Moving into the new year top of the league is going to prove our biggest challenge this season, not forgetting we still have to play Barcelona in the Champions league and then there is the defence of our FA Cup title which starts against Sunderland.
The next half of the season has a lot of promise for us and it’s how we approach it, what we do with where we are now that really matters.
Transfer window goes open in 2 days and we are hearing of Elneny as cover up for Coquelin.
The boss didn’t confirm this but he has said he’ll be busy in the window.
I really cannot wait to see who and who he brings in and if anyone would be let go.
Debuchy wants to leave but then, we can’t finish the season with Bellerin as our only recognised right-back. so??
It’s all up to the boss tho, hope he plays his cards right.
Like it or not, this is our best chance to win the league, January would have a huge role to play in accomplishing that. Not just for who we sign and let go alone but for the business done by other teams.
One thing I know for sure is that we are set for an amazing 2016.
With that I take my leave.
See y’all in 2016.
Adios.
Auf Wiedersehen.
Arriverderci.
Ciao.
