So it’s a new week and with it comes all the madness that a new week brings with it.
The latest in the title race saga is that Leicester City are 5 points ahead of second place with nine games to go and eight points from us in second place.
Last week wasn’t a very good week for Arsenal football club as we went and lost to both Manchester United and Swansea. They were ridiculous defeats, the manner in which we lost both games were infuriating and over the course of the week support for the manager had waned to almost nonexistence. Now very few people want him in place next season, but say what you will you’d at least give him credit for at least trying something different against our North London ‘rivals’.
Elneny came into the side, something I’ve been screaming about for ages, and was beside Coquelin with Ramsey on the right. Danny Welbeck started upfront in place of Olivier Giroud and he offered us so much going forward.
Tottenham looked the most likely to score in the first half, but somehow against the run of play we scored. Ramsey with a lovely finish, bar that finish in my opinion the Welshman was pretty crap, but that was a fine finish and I give kudos to him for making it happen.
Most people around me were happy but cautious with memories of Wednesday night still stuck in their heads. The second half began with us in the lead and we seemed to look better in attack…then Coquelin.
A lot of people are on his back for getting the red card and rightly so, but may I suggest that if Gabriel hadn’t backed off at that point then maybe Coquelin wouldn’t have had to make the tackle. They had broken forward and Gabriel could have come to challenge, but he hesitated and scurried back instead leaving Coquelin to do the job, which he didn’t do very well. We went a man down and they scored two goals and you were thinking dejavu.
But we scored
We came back…and it was the person I was most hoping to score that did—Alexis. He’s been in truly poor form of late and you hope to God that this goal is a spark of things to come because I can’t help but feel that if we can go on a run and give it a right old go anything could happen.
Tottenham still have some really difficult games ahead of them which we can capitalize on if we do it right and Leicester, well they could choke. They are grinding out the results, but they’re laboured, anything could happen.
So it’s up to us. I think Ospina had a good game and I hope he can deputize well for Petr and Elneny in midfield was great for me as he was simplicity itself and it was great to watch, I hope it’s a formula that Arsene Wenger sticks to as it could pay us going forward.
We play Hull on Tuesday night and depending on the result could either play Watford in the FA cup quarter finals or West Brom in the league. If we can have a good cup run it could maybe be a spur for the league which we so desperately have to do better at.
So here’s hoping for an immensely better week than last and maybe just maybe this doesn’t have to be a total disaster.
Till later.

A Welcome Spark
