So real football returns tomorrow where we face a champions league winning Stoke city (or at least that’s what they say with the players they possess). Basically Stoke has become the Barcelona reject ground…make that failed player’s ground.
Let’s review the data shall we: Bojan (failed at Barcelona), Afellay (failed at Barcelona), Shaquiri (failed at Bayern and Inter), Charlie Adam (LOL! Liverpool failure), Crouch (ditto)…you see where i’m going here right?
Anyway, that doesn’t mean much. In recent times, a game against Stoke has felt like a derby of sorts, ever since they tried to destroy Aaron Ramsey’s life and then feeling self righteously smug to be affronted when he refused Shawcross’ apology. What a bunch of pants!
Anyhoo, we go into the game with two wins…two hard fought wins. We haven’t convinced in any match so far which is a shame because we have a pretty good team. In terms of team news, I think it’s pretty much status quo; resident rockstar Rosicky is still sidelined, as is DAT GUY. Jack Wilshere has had a little setback on his road to recovery, so he would not be available. So that leaves little ol us with merely Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and some other guys like that. So we’re screwed eh?
Koscielny could be back and so will Mertesacker. I have seen calls for Gabriel to replace Per. I don’t know about that, we are quick to hype players up after a few games and will readily destroy them soon after, we did the same with Calum Chambers, so I think we should be a little more patient with Gabriel. Let’s just say if Per were to be crocked, we won’t weep too much.
With this team we should be able to beat Stoke at home, but you worry that our home form has been sketchy at best and this would be a good game to change things around. Will the coach the tempted to use Alexis upfront? Will this kill Giroud’s confidence? Will Ramsey continue to play on the right or will Cazorla be moved out wide? Will Wilshere ever play again? Will I ever win the lottery? All this on the next episode of…
The long and short of it is that we might have to change our dynamics to see this through. Or who knows we might go with our normal way and still win, but that remains to be seen. Chelsea play Everton before we take on Stoke and Man Utd take on Liverpool afterwards and seeing as we play Chelsea in the league next, we need to win this to get in the right frame of mind for that trip.
So fingers crossed for the team, we wish them all the best, here’s hoping the support comes through and stands as the 12th man and lead the team to victory. I might be being too optimistic, but what else can I be? If we defend well and maybe get a goal reasonably early then I feel we can take this.
