Tari: So everyone’s calling Jamie Vardy’s rejection of Arsene’s offer an embarrassment…
Robin: No it’s not! It’s just a football player with a bit of common sense.
Tari: How do you mean?
Robin: Well, Jamie first of all is 29 years old and would totally be useless at Arsenal after a year and a half. Then there’s the ‘he-believed-in-me-when-others-didn’t’ feeling you’re supposed to feel when you play under a manager who does believe you in like Raineri did to Vardy and like Wenger did to Robin Van-Persie, only that Robin didn’t stay.
Tari: Well, Robin left for the online casinos on Sir Matt Busby Way (Old Trafford) trophies, Vardy already has one.
Robin: Leaving for trophies, leaving for a bigger club…it’s all the same – leaving for something better. Besides, there’s no guarantee we were going to get Vardy a trophy.
Tari: Whatever.
Robin: ‘Whatever’ sounds like a limp way to brush aside the obvious.
Tari: * rolls eyes and keeps on typing* WHATEVER!
Robin: Look, even Vardy says Wenger didn’t guarantee not playing him out of position… okay, that’s a bit of an embarrassing point to make though; like Wenger always plays people out of position.
Tari: Like Wilshere on the wings…sometime in the near future, Giroud might play defense * chuckles*
Robin: Okay, here’s the Sky Sports link reporting Vardy’s reasons for rejecting us –
“Vardy’s decision was based on his belief that his game would not suit Arsenal’s possession-hungry style of football having flourished under the counter-attacking style of Claudio Ranieri’s side last season.”
“The 29-year-old was also swayed by his belief that Leicester have something special as a squad and can not only mount a solid defense of their Premier League title, but make an impact on the Champions League.”
“Vardy was also not given guarantees by Wenger that he would not be played out of position at the Emirates.
Tari: Geez
Robin: Yeah, I know.
Tari: So what do you think will happen now?
Robin: We’ll probably go in for a defender, we desperately need someone in for Per. And then maybe a striker. Lacazzette anyone? Batshuayi? Morata? Lukaku?
Tari: I’d prefer a Lukaku. Fast, strong, young, premier league experience…
Robin: Bloody expensive…
Tari: Yeah, I know.
Robin: And we’ve already spent €40m on Granit, so Wenger might, you know, say we spent big already…
Tari: Dammit! Stop rubbing it in!
Robin: Wenger might pull off one more signing – a free agent transfer, maybe Micah Richards? Shola Ameobi?
Tari: Shoot me, please.
Robin: Or maybe Granit is our last piece of transfer window business. * evil grin*
Tari: You’re enjoying this aren’t you?
Robin: You bet
