*mutters to self* Do not dwell on the past, do not dwell on the past, do not dwell on the past
*Deep sigh*
Good morning and a good day I hope for everyone out there. As I write this post this morning I haven’t read a single Arsenal related post since Wednesday. I haven’t visited a website, a news site, a blog, a newspaper, twitter or anything for that matter relating to Arsenal. I have been keeping away so as to keep my sanity and I really didn’t want to see those articles or interviews about how we’ll come back stronger or how the team was unhappy with one thing or the other.
Now I do understand the tone of those interviews, I’ve seen a lot of people get angry over the fact that the players talk and you’ll see comments like “Please don’t tell us bullshit, if you did more playing and less talking you’d be better”. I find these comments inane, the players aren’t the ones who call the press to interview them and in this modern age of football you’d hardly ever find a player say “No comment”, they have to say something or else the news sites will say “Silence from the club since Wednesday indicates that the club is going through a bit of a crisis” Then these kinds of fans will then comment about how the players are hiding and won’t face the people they’re responsible to.
You just can’t win with people.
So we play a Chelsea side that have lost two league games on the trot and would be looking to avoid a third one. We on the other hand might have a bit of a hangover from the events of Wednesday night, but we did play well against Stoke. Now we are all certain that we would not have as many chances against the Chavs like we did against Stoke. So it would be up to our strikers to make the most of the chances.
It’s worrying in a sense that it seems Alexis isn’t scoring, i’m not in panic mode yet as I sense that once he gets one, he’ll just keep pumping them in and even when he isn’t scoring, he brings so much to the team that it’s hard to get mad at him.
With all this, I just hope the defence is up for it, I won’t worry too much as our defence was at less than half power on Wednesday if you also count the keeper and we should get back to being compact come tomorrow.
The game kicks off at that dreaded 12:45 and it’s away, let’s hope the results are not the same.
Can we win? By all means, but will we? Now that’s a different story. We have the squad, we’ve done it before and Chelsea aren’t exactly invincible at the moment, so I say we take this golden opportunity and do something with it. I really do hope we can.
In terms of team news, I know nothing, what I believe though is that it’s the same team that squared off against Stoke that would start this game too. It was nice that Theo scored yesterday, I do hope he can kick on from there. Theo has a pretty decent record against big teams, so at least we have a big game scorer, you do worry which Theo turns up tomorrow though.
Fingers crossed all goes well and when next I have to write it would be with a much lighter heart.
Till then.
