Good Morning Gooners
So we have a game today against Hull city, a game which we have to win to continue on our good run. As it stands we have 8 wins and 1 Draw from our last 9 games and it would be awesome to be able to notch up another win.
We have lost out on the title unfortunately to Chelsea, not like i expected us to be able to do anything about it, they had probably won the title in my eyes the moment they beat Van Gaal and his bunch of dirty Mancs. There is nothing we can do about that now. As to why we aren’t the one at the top of the table, we can have a postmortem on that at the end of the season, we can bemoan what went wrong and who we didn’t buy and who we did and we can look at who we can bring in that will make things better for us.
We have a full month and a half or so to do that , so right now, it would be much more productive if we face what’s in front of us and go all out to carry the second position. As i said here we haven’t been that high up in quite a while and this is our best chance.
The team is playing well, everyone is gelling and confidence is high for everyone, so i feel we can do this. I was scared we might falter but i’m quite confident now. When Van Gaal gave us the first screw up card i was like “Oh Goody! We have a shot at doing this”, then he goes ahead and gives us the second screw up card and i’m like “Oh Mr. Van Gaal, you shouldn’t have. This is nice? Err…thanks?” and then in his immense largesse, he goes ahead and gives us another and suddenly it’s Man City i’m worried about. It’s funny how things change in football eh?
Well in terms of team news there isn’t much really…Debuchy and The Ox are out and i doubt Diaby is going to play. Not to say we aren’t going to miss these players but in Bellerin, we have a suitable replacement for Debuchy. Such has been his improvement this season that man wouldn’t mind one bit if he started ahead of Debuchy even when the latter is fit.
Oxlade Chamberlain is a different matter, his performances on the right have been a source of joy for me especially in the early part of the season and while Welbeck has done a good job and Ramsey has been decent, i kinda prefer him overall.
For tonight though i expect an unchanged side with everyone fit and everyone playing well. I do wonder what will happen when the Ox returns though as it is clear that Aresne holds him in high regard. Does it become one of Ramsey or Cazorla ? or would he persist with using Ramsey on the right with a bid to shoehorn him into the team?
And what about Wilshere? Ah, these are all questions swirling in my head and i guess i’ll just have to revisit them later. If we win this game we will be level on points with Man City with a game in hand, so i guess that should be our primary aim.
So here’s hoping for a victory tonight and some joy.
Till later
