So the interlull will be over soon or whatever and I can’t say I care much about the going ons of the internationals.
I lie
I actually kinda like how things went this week. I mean Wales qualified for their first major tournament in eons and it would really be nice to see Aaron Ramsey with the Welsh team come next year, I would enjoy that.
Mesut Ozil was instrumental in Germany being top of their group winning a penalty for his home nation and creating the other goal for Kruse, so all in all a rather productive night for the broodiest German ever.
Olivier, THSTEL (The handsomest striker that ever lived) scored two quick goals in France’s win last night further injecting some confidence. I heard some people going ‘Oh thank God! He needed that, he really needed a goal’ and I was like huh? He’s scored thrice this season for us already, he just needs to do better generally in my opinion.
Staying on Giroud, he has stated that Walcott deserves his place ahead of him stating:
“I need to take positives and to harden myself mentally. I cannot simply take refuge in work. At Arsenal, I am in competition with Theo (Walcott) for the striker position. But he is doing well at the moment, so there is no reason to change.
“I was in his place in previous seasons at Arsenal. I imagine what he must have been thinking. But I feel that the coach believes in me.”
“It has been for several matches now that I have played less, that is for sure, but I do not need to be worried. I need a bit more game time but also to believe more in my abilities.”
I like his philosophy on stuff like this, I feel he’s got his head down and is ready to work to reclaim his place and we know Giroud has a certain bouncability that allows him to bounce back from disappointments. There are a lot of games to play this season and he would definitely be needed for a lot of them. For now though, it’s unlikely he’s going to dislodge Theo from the starting lineup especially when he is in such goalscoring form for club and country. So we’ll see how that goes.
And then there’s Alexis. Yes, on Saturday it was revealed by his national team coach Sampaoli that he wasn’t fully fit for the game against Brazil…and he played 90 minutes!
“Alexis arrived not at his top form, with pain in the adductor.
“He couldn’t play at 100% but we thought that for us him not playing was to give too much advantage to our rivals because his presence in our team makes things difficult for our opponents.”
Well…let’s just say Sampaoli is now on my Blacklist. I understand that the national team have to do all they can to win and i’m sure on their side of things this was the right thing, but as an Arsenal fan who couldn’t care less about internationals, this is ludicrous.
Sergio Aguero is injured as is David Silva and Bastian Schweinsteiger and Matic. Major teams are losing their star players and I really would hate us to also fall into that category. Well fingers crossed that he’s okay for Watford. We will need him in the next run of games we have as they are all tricky.
Beyond that I don’t think there’s much else going on, I think i’m done now, I have a leather jacket, wrist bands and black jeans to dream about since i’m prepping for the first rock festival in Nigeria for which i’m quite stoked about.
