It seemed as though we were going to wait ages before another signing is made but I am glad to announce to you that we have made a signing.
Sadly though it’s not what we all expected but definitely one we could do with.
It’s an addition to the back room staff.
Arsenal have appointed sports performance specialist Barry Solan to their backroom staff.
Solan would be current head of performance enhancement Shad Forsythe’s assistant, but his official title is strength and conditioning.
He currently works in Gaelic football with Mayo GAA, but will join up with the Gunners for next season.
Forsythe who was a former Germany coach was appointed by the club to head up their fitness division ahead of last season.
Forsythe and Solan have worked together before for sports performance firm EXOS.
It’s no news that Arsenal have had long-standing issues with keeping their first-team stars fit.
Last season we suffered lengthy injuries to defenders Matthieu Debuchy and Laurent Koscielny, midfielders Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil and strikers Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck.
The treatment table at Arsenal is now empty after Abou Diaby left the club after being released earlier this month.
Let’s all hope with this addition and Forsythe working again with is long time partner, we would experience less occurrences of injuries to key players next season.
