Hey people.
It’s just a day till we see the gunners back in action. whoop whoop
Yes it’s pre-season but I’m still excited about it. It feels like ages since we watched the boys play some football and that pre-season friendly tomorrow against Rc Lens would be very welcome.
For starters, we get to see our new signings make their debut for the team, oh wait, it’s just Xhaka. Anyways we’ll get to see Xhaka make his debut and show us some of the stuff he’s made of. I know you’ll say we signed Asano too but I don’t think the lad is with the team yet or even has a work permit yet so it might be a while, it might just be a rerun of the whole Campbell situation but let’s see.
It’s just one for now but who knows, we might get two or three more new players to unveil before the next pre-season game. #WengerIsWorking
Also, we get to see some of the loan players back, some of the youngsters would also get to make a case for themselves and then some who were injured for the most of the last season come to mind.
As much as we want new signings and all that, you’ll notice the club has a fair amount of British players and one would wonder how core they are in taking the team to the heights they want to achieve in the next season.
Wilshere, Ramsey, Gibbs, Jenkinson, Chamberlain, Walcott, Welbeck and even Callum Chambers could all be very key in seeing the team hit the heights they want to for the next season.
It seems we have them in every position except the goalpost. lol
At a point in time, they seemed to be the rock of the team, Walcott leading the front line, Wilshere and Ramsey running the midfield, Chamberlain being an impact sub and Jenko running that right flank but for some reason, our Bristish core seem to have fallen flat.
Wilshere and Welbeck cannot seem to stay fit, Jenkinson has had to be shipped on loan to get regular starts, Walcott hasn’t given performances that are enough for him to hold a regular starting spot, Gibbs has been displaced by Monreal at that left back position, The OX has been very inconsistent too and always runs away to the injury room to find solace and then there’s Callum Chambers, no comments for him.
This could well be the season where they become a core part of the Arsenal squad again. This could be the season where they could rewrite their fortunes again. Of the 8 of them, only Wilshere and Ramsey made the Euros with Ramsey having a superb tournament.
The others missed out thanks to their lack of appearances for the Arsenal team and injuries with Welbeck being the most painful of them all seeing as he had given a good account of himself after coming back from that long injury before getting injured again. I’m sure that would have given them a lot to think about and make them determine to improve their performances for the coming season and try to cement their place in the Arsenal squad.
On a good day, they good all play a key role in our trophy hunt.
Let’s hope that good day comes this season.
Good luck guys.
