So….just imagine for a second that you and someone are discussing and you ask
“So hey, it’s a beautiful day, i wonder though, what do you think of John Terry?” and the person replies
“Oh i think he’s shit” You’re clearly taken aback by this and naturally want to understand why he/she will say so. So you ask what comes next naturally
“Um…so if you think John Terry is shit, what do you think of shit then?” and the person responds promptly
“John Terry”
I mean…what more can be said to that? You asked a person’s opinion and the person answered.
So, if Jack Wilshere stands on top of a bus and innocently asks a question, like how are you sure he wasn’t just asking innocently, he might have just wanted to know. It’s the same as asking ‘what do you think about peanut butter and jelly’. How was he to know that the Arsenal fans will answer the way they did? How?
And now everyone has their knickers in a twist over it. Tut tut.
I thought it was hilarious, but hey i’m biased so i guess there’s something to be said for that.
I entered into an argument with a colleague who maintained that he shouldn’t take Tottenham that seriously and that he was a professional footballer and blah blah blah!
I countered telling him he didn’t understand the rivalry and the history. He retorted that since i’m Nigerian why should i side with Wilshere seeing that i wasn’t born and raised in England only a nominal visitor. He went on to say since i wasn’t directly affected by the rivalry i should find what Jack did silly.
My answer?
“What do you feel about slavery?”
“I’m deeply upset by it of course”
“Where you enslaved?”
“No”
“Did you work plantations?”
“No”
“So why are you upset?”
“Because it affected people i have an affinity with, but that doesn’t mean i hate all white people”
“Would you hate a racist?”
“Well i won’t say hate cos that’s strong, but i won’t want to have anything to do with them”
“Thank you”
“Huh???”
I have no idea if you saw how i won that argument, but i certainly felt like i did. So just so you know; I have no qualms with what Jack did, if anything it endeared him to fans and hey, Spurs are totally free to think we’re shit, that hardly bothers me either.
So away from that amusing topic
WE WON THE CUP
It was fun wasn’t it? I just want to bask in the awesomeness of it, i’m absolutely chuffed about it. It was the easiest final i’ve ever seen Arsenal play. To be fair, i’m a relatively new supporter (11 years) and i’ve watched 4-5 finals since then and this was the most relaxing one. Last year my hands were shaking too much to type anything. I had to call everyone i wanted to celebrate with as i couldn’t text or chat. This year though, it was easy and that made me happy.
Walcott’s awesome finish, Alexis absolutely thwacking the ball, Mert’s goal and subsequent unsure celebration and Giroud scoring the most Giroud goal of all time. I know it’s tuesday but i’m still reliving it and i’m going to bask for as long as i can possibly manage.
We can talk about what to do in the summer later, we can debate on who should leave and who should stay and so on, we have loads of time for that, but for now, just enjoy the fact that we have another trophy.
I could totally get used to this.
Later guys
