When I think of the fact that some people missed that game against United yesterday, I just feel sad.
Like how do you miss such an amazing game?
Some unreal stuff were on display over at the Emirates.
Gillian, if you are reading this I feel really bad for you. Trust me the highlights can never be as good as seeing the game in real time.
To be honest, I am still chuffed to bits about that game. Not just because we won but the manner with which we did it.
After the meltdown against Olympiacos in the UCL, the team needed to come out firing on all cylinders and get a win or worst scenario, a draw.
But they shocked us, when we least expected them to.
What a statement this was from Arsenal. What a comeback. What a riposte.
Left me wondering if this was the same team that had lost to Olympiacos in the most bizarre fashion in midweek.
Well one thing was different, no two things, or more than two.
First, Cech was back in goal. Did you see that save he made??? Totally world class
Secondly, the players wanted this victory, you could see it in them.
Three, they realized they owed it to us to see out this game and boy did they do it in amazing fashion.
A goal up after six minutes, two clear a minute later, by the time Alexis Sanchez hit the third with three-quarters of the game remaining, the locals were in rapture. How could this be the same team that lost to Olympiacos at home just five days previously? Up to second place, how could this be the club supposedly teetering on the brink of crisis?
Unlike other games where Arsenal started on the attack, this time we made the attacks count and that sure did destabilize United.
If only we could seek to be more clinical in front of goal, like we were yesterday, who knows how many of the games we have lost this season we would have won.
Take Olympiacos for example, we started strong, missed a couple of chances, they settled into the game, got their own chances and took them.
The difference here was, we didn’t let United settle at all and took our chances early on. For much of the first half, they still seemed to be inside their team coach enroute the Emirates.
Two amazing goals from Alexis, One from ozil, let us not even count the ones Ozil, Ramsey, Ox, Walcott and Giroud missed. It could have been more people.
The second half display was just amazing, we came and sealed what we had, defended as a team, hit them on the counter when we could, as a team.
That is what we need more often.
This has to be the best performance I have seen since the Fa Cup final, no since that 2-0 victory over City last season or wait, since that 4-0 over Liverpool who just lost their manager yesterday.
Speaking of Liverpool, they wanted to spoil our shine and decided to announce the dismissal of Rodgers while we were celebrating our 3-0 victory.
Bad belle people…..
Anyways, congrats to the team once more. It’s just sad that there is international break just when we hit the mojo.
I believe the team would play like this, with this hunger and drive and passion in subsequent games.
Meanwhile, still enjoy the victory people.
This is a step in the right direction.
