Arsenal won a game.
Yatta!
I’m super excited…and we played well to boot. I missed the first half of the game because (someone) forgot that our timelines had synced again. So the game was at 3pm, not 4pm—dummy.
So I got there and I was pleasantly surprised to see us 3 goals up. I was happy, I settled in to watch the rest of the match.
I watched us play with vim and vigour and just kept the enemy at arm’s length and when the keeper did have to make a save, he made it quite well.
And Walcott came on and scored! I was like whoa!
So where the hell was this Arsenal since?
I think the problem with this team is mental. We have a talented bunch f players, but they don’t know how to play like winners, like people on the front foot.
It’s telling that our best wins and performances come when our backs are against the wall. It’s a good quality to be fair, but it’s a limited one.
Our backs aren’t always going to be against the wall, 85%of the time we are going to be favourites to win a game and we need to start being predictable. When I say predictable I mean we look at the fixture list, we see a game against Norwich and with all due respect to Norwich, we expect to win—and we do. That kind of predictability.
I don’t want to nark on the team or anything because they were quite good on Saturday and I was pleased. I was pleasantly surprised at how well Iwobi has settled in, I’m happy Elneny is doing so well, I’m glad Mesut Ӧzil was enjoying himself, I’m glad Alexis is scoring again, I’m glad about a lot of things.
So Tottenham drew against Liverpool and with Chelsea and Manchester United on the horizon, I really do feel we could catch up. We need to win all our games though, but if we do and we’re playing without the shackles of expectation, then we could at least pip them to second and celebrate Saint Totterinham’s day.
It’s unfortunate that that’s the best we can do, but hey, here we are.
Anyhoo, let’s support the team eh? Let’s see what we can do, let’s win every game.
