Once again, we have lost to Chelsea.
You look back at yesterday and wonder to yourself, how long would this continue??
How long would we keep losing to Chelsea??
Even in their worst season, we have somehow managed to lose to them, home and away, collecting 3 red cards in the process.
You wonder what the issue might be.
Some say the issue is with Wenger, some others say it’s a mental block that Chelsea just know how to get under our skins and our players have already conceded to the defeat even before the game.
You look at the records (more red cards than points in the last 4 seasons) and just ponder to yourself if it’s time to give up and admit that Chelsea are our bogey team.
I think I am almost at that stage of admittance tho.
To be honest it’s really really sad and for obvious reasons, I am not pissed at the team after that loss yesterday, just sad.
Even after that red card, we still had a couple of decent chances and could have scored 1 or even 2, but sadly the best of those fell to Flamini and you know how they ended.
About the red card, yes Costa might have added some theatrics to it but then again, Per was the last man and the rule books say that’s a red card.
Gabriel came on for Giroud in what has been the 2nd most talked about issue from the game, after the red card.
Sharp guy, Costa pounced on the fact that Gabriel was still trying to gel with Kos, got in between both of them and made it 1-0 from a cross that should have been dwelt with long before then.
Wenger says we conceded too soon after the red card and that might have played a huge role in the final outcome of the game.
Ramsey was very very poor on the day, even by his own standards, same could be said with a lot of the other players. They always have a bad day against Chelsea, don’t they?
Sanchez was brought on later to try and salvage he situation, he sure gave his best and did some good work, considering the fact that he just came back from injury.
You look at the table now and think we can as well kiss our title hunt good bye.
With Leicester not looking like they want to drop points any time soon, and a resurgent Man City thanks to Aguero’s return to form, this looks like a lost battle.
Results against Liverpool, Stoke, Southampton and others readily come to mind and one can only mourn those lost points.
It’s still 15 games till the end of the season and trust me, a lot could still happen.
It’s all up to the boys to use that game as a reality check and buckle up for the remaining games.
With more players coming back, it gives the team more depth which could come in very handy as the title run in continues.
Sojust stay behind the team and keep supporting them, hopefully come may we’ll be lifting the trophy.
Like it or not, I have concluded that Chelsea is our bogey team and am all the more excited that we don’t have to play them again this season in the League.
The red card to Per gives Gabriel a chance to show what he’s made of, let’s hope he makes good use of that.
Up next is Burnley.
Till then, do have a wow week.
Ciao.
