I look forward to this weekend’s game. I wish it was tomorrow. There’s an indie event in the evening and i’d have loved to go watch a game and then have an indie event to go to right afterwards.
Alas! It is not to be as we play on Sunday. We have put ourselves in a reasonable position in the league, although I can’t help but think we won’t have been in a better position if we had won the West Brom and Norwich games. We could have been top and I hope to God i’m not looking back come April or May disgruntled about this games as we realise we lose out on the league with a mere three points.
All that doesn’t matter though, only Aston Villa do whom we play on Sunday. We need to win that game because after that comes Manchester City. Now I believe we can beat city, but we may not, who knows. We have done much better in the big games this season especially against Manchester United who we beat so convincingly earlier in the season. If we beat Aston Villa we should at least keep our lead against city and if we do manage to inflict further damage by beating them next week, then we could potentially see ourselves four points ahead of our closest title rival in my opinion.
Leicester are ahead of us by 2 points as they top the league. Could they be champions? I don’t think so. I will change my answer if they survive their next four games and are either still top or a close second. Then I would know we are in for an interesting league season with Leicester.
But Leicester can’t matter at the moment, we need a win. we have the team to do it, depleted as it may be, but as we saw on Wednesday, still capable of doing the business.
In terms of team news, I don’t think anything has come out yet. It is my hope that the team that played Olympiacos is still available and that we lost no one on the night. We were chasing a win on Wednesday so using Walcott was understandable, will Arsene persist and use Walcott again on the wings in this league game? Or could we possibly see hat trick hero Giroud on the bench?

Nah!
With form like that it would be utter madness if Olivier didn’t start. The real question is Walcott or the Ox? I don’t know, but I know Joel Campbell will start and what a season he’s beginning to have. Here’s a guy that many would have thought would leave the club, but he put his head down, worked hard, got lucky with injuries and here he is. Many will agree when I say that even when we get most of our wounded back he might still find a place in the first team. He would have to show an even greater level of consistency though to do that, but we’ll see eh?
I guess in the modern game talent and discipline alone is not enough, some luck is needed too and i’m glad Joel is playing the way he is and I do wish him all the best and hope to God he can continue with this and get even better. He is young as is easy to forget and therefore can improve even more….what a lovely prospect. Sigh
Ah well, lets hope for the best against Remi Garde’s men and hope we can get three points. We should hear from the manager today and then we’ll have a clearer idea of who we and who we don’t have.
