I feel cranky this morning
I always loved independence day. It was a B movie but it was one of the most successful B movies of all time. It launched Will Smith’s career and it’s because of it that I would never forget Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum (no, not because of Jurassic Park) .
I am reminded of a scene when the air force first engaged the aliens and fired on the aliens. The aliens had shields that made the virtually invulnerable and the airforce were dropping like flies as one by one their planes were destroyed. There was this console that showed the number of planes in the air each being represented by a tiny images. A large X appeared on each as the planes were destroyed and as the aliens downed them all, the large X appeared with alarming regularity.
So it seems for the Arsenal as I saw Coquelin and then Aterta limp of to join our legion of players out. I am tempted to wallow in self pity at the news as even more than the result, that was what hurt. I only saw the first half as I was so disheartened by the results that I just left in a huff and settled in front of Borderlands and killed Bandits and annoying alien monsters imagining each as a Tony Pulis face.
Like the game against Sheffield Wednesday, I didn’t like the result, but I didn’t mind it as much as the injuries it wrought upon Theo Walcott and Oxlade Chamberlain. Same with Saturday. In the light of other results, the result on Saturday was actually not the disaster it could be as Man City also lost rather badly to Liverpool. This means that Leicester (Bless them) are top of the table and we are only two points behind and with all due respect I really do doubt that they’d remain there.
But the injuries
Especially to Coquelin. Aterta’s injury quite annoyed me as he had come on, basically cost us two oals then limped off…I dunno, but I found that annoying. We missed a penalty apparently , which was horrendous when you think of how much of a boost it’d have been to at least get some sort of result.
I’m all about the silver lining, so it would be interesting to see if Arsene uses the Cazorla-Ramsey axis and how that could work. Fingers crossed that the Coquelin injury isn’t as bad, we do need to catch a break, let’s hope this is it.
We play Zagreb tomorrow and we hope to God we have Ramsey and Oxlade Chamberlain back. The morale boost that could be would be considerable indeed and if by some miracle we can avoid another injury for some weeks we might even get Walcott and Wilshere back…who knows.
It wasn’t a great performance, worries will persist on Cazorla who was quite poor but he’s a pro and I back him fully to come back stronger and who knows, having Ramsey back in the middle he craves so much could be a good thing, who knows? January is also close, so maybe Arsene might do something there, we’ll see how things unfold.
That’s it for today, we’ll know better the extent of our dead and wounded later today when Arsene Wenger meets the press, lets hope for the best.
