….
Another name – Cengiz Ünder.
This 21-year-old winger from Turkey plays for Roma. According to Football Whispers:
Ünder began his career with Altinordu in 2014, moving to Istanbul Basaksehir in a deal worth £595k in July 2016. He signed on a five-year deal that will keep him at the club for the foreseeable future. He was called up to the Turkey national team for the first time in August 2016, making the bench for their friendly 0-0 draw against Russia.
Apparently, Cengiz is one of the wonder kids on FM18 and is on the shopping list of everyone who manages a club with deep pockets. With his asking price in real life pegged at £45m, it’s not just us – Arsenal – after him, but, Man-United and Chelsea.
Here are Cengiz Ünder’s percentile stats for 2018. Numbers gotten via Football Whispers.
My question, however, is: Why would Arsenal need a winger?
We’ve got Reiss Nelson, Iwobi, Aubameyang/Lacazette, Nketiah… I’m sure there are some other players I’ve forgotten to mention.
And then, there’s our defence that needs tidying up. With Lichsteiner out of contract next year, do we have a back-up for Bellerin in Maitland Niles? Can Nacho Monreal give us another year or two?
Oh, and then there are our goalies.
Is Petr Cech done? And is Emiliano Martinez the man to compete for number one spot with Leno?
With word from One Football’s article saying that Unai Emery has mentioned that we may not be purchasing players in the January transfer window, it’s left to be seen where these rumours come from.
In my opinion, there’s so much to be sorted than us getting another winger.
