Well, I have to say I am short of words.
We won!!!
All 3 points at the Etihad have been taken by Arsenal.
I said it was gonna be an exciting game and trust me it sure was. If you missed the game, I have to say you have missed watching one of our most composed games in a while and it might be some time till we see such a good all round performance again.
I personally took a step of faith and decided to go and watch the game wearing my Arsenal jersey and it sure did pay off.
I don’t even know where to start from. Goals from Santi Cazorla (after Monreal had been fouled in the box by Vincent Kompany) and a Giroud header from a Cazorla free kick were enough to give us the much desired 3 points.
Y’all can keep going on about if that was a penalty or not. For all I care, we have those 3 points.
Good for us, City looked off today. They seemed to lack ideas almost throughout the game and it was obvious they were missing Yaya Toure and maybe Samir Nasri too.
I should start from the goalie. David Ospina did not have so much of work to do today but when he was called on, he sure did perform well. Another clean sheet for the Columbian.
Who else has noticed how the clean sheets have been flowing for the games Ospina has been in goal. #JustSaying
I have to commend the defence too, they were all awesome today. Bellerin, Koscielny, Mertesacker and Monreal. All had good games, even though Monreal almost scored an own goal one time. But overall, it was a good defensive performance all round.
Moving to the midfield. I am torn between giving Cazorla or Coquelin the MOTM award. Both of them had awesome games. Good defensive cover from Coquelin, the lad was everywhere.
Did you guys see that time when he was shouting at I think it was Monreal or so for leaving his man. That was just sooooooooo mature of him. More of that.
And Santi, He was just fabulous today. The spaniard was unplayable. You just have to replay the way he was mixing (dribbling) all those City players. Like they just could not touch him and then a goal and an assist to top up such a good performance.
I am not even gonna mention Ramsey ‘cos he seemed kinda off today and gave the ball away alot of times. Chambo and Sanchez( who had a quiet day by his own standards) also did their bit in causing the City defense some trouble.
Giroud also had a quiet game but was there for the second goal when we needed him. Just awesome.
I am flabberwhelmed (thats overwhelmed and flabbergasted together just ‘cos I cant pick one to use right now) with the whole at the moment.
Lets even give some kudos to Wenger too. For the starting line up and credit to him also for his subs. I have to say he was spot on with the substituitions today.
My MOTM goes to Santi Cazorla just because he is Santi Cazorla. Dribbling past all those players, falling back to defend, getting a goal and an assist. He was all round. I wish I could see him to give him this award but I’ll just give it to Uzo to keep for him:).
Good game in general. More of that.
