You know why I say these are definitely summer signings? Well, you tell Wenger to sell Giroud or Ramsey in January…I thought so.
These players have been linked with Arsenal on several occasions and are all doing terribly well for their clubs and, no club in its right mind would sell you their ‘golden balls’ when they need them the most.
Here’s however a brief review of the performances of each touted striker and what the purchase of any of them could do for Arsenal considering that we have the Wizard (Ozil), the Lion (Wilshere), the Fox (Ramsey), the Trickster (Carzola) and Mozart (Rosicky) in our midfield. *Breathtaking*
Considering that he’s the cheapest of the options at about £7m and comes from the least competitive league, many Arsenal fans aren’t that open to Mitroglou’s link to the club.
However, given the number and quality of clubs lining up to get his signature – Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Benfica, Liverpool and Genoa, it seems there’s some quality in this young lad.
Arsene is always up for a bargain and I’d rather he took the risk on this ‘eye-brow tweezing-heavily tattooed’ Grecian who’s a namesake of Emperor Constantine (well…kinda) than Alexander Pato. That Pato news, I don’t like it.
Here’s Tim Stillman’s view on the matter ; he’s as unreceptive as I am as per the Pato rumour. Will we take the risk on this tattooed dude? It remains to be seen, Wenger might bite the bargain.
I have to admit that this Jackson guy coming to Arsenal has been a personal prayer point of some Gunners…okay, of mine, OF MINE. There, I admitted it. 10 goals in 16 matches in a fairly competitive league is not bad. He is a natural poacher and can become our Suarez substitute, you know, the kind of guy that lives to score goals. Plus, he’s cheaper than the other two beasts I’ll be introducing you to…err…£50m *cough*
This Colombian though hasn’t been in Europe very long has an average of a goal every two shots, I repeat, A GOAL IN EVERY TWO SHOTS. We could do with that at the Emirates.
Is it just me or are Uruguayans becoming really pricey?
Rumours are rife that this very expensive auto-mobile…err, player isn’t settled in the island of the beautiful and dirty rich a la
Monaco PSG (I’d have no problems living there though on his salary) and is not happy playing second fiddle to Ibrahimovic.
Also, rumour has it that WE; yes, you read that correctly, and in ‘we’ I mean, Arsenal FC were the first to respond to the news of the unsettled player. Would I want this player at the Arsenal? Yes of course! He’s a versatile player who can play as a forward and as an attacking midfielder on both flanks. And his goal repertoire isn’t shabby at all (I made a mistake, it’s 13 goals in 14 appearances). The question is, can we pay him?
You’ve heard enough drivel about this dude that we all want, Suarez…okay, ‘most’ of us want him, not all of us. The big question is – Will Liverpool sell?
The bottom point is, Giroud needs back up, and not just any back-up, competitive back-up. Walcott and Podolski are good players in their own rights but I don’t consider them game changers…maybe Poldi, a little bit.
I doubt if we’ll get World Class or top striker at the very least this summer so I’d rather Wenger loans some good/average striker to take the load off Giroud, like Llorente (he’s not so fantastic anymore) or that dude from
Barcelona Madrid, Morata? We might be lucky and Theo, Podolski and Sanogo (goodness knows where he’s hiding).
Here’s what a top class act would do for us though:
