Since signing the youngster from Brazilian side Ituano, the 18-year-old has scored four goals in four games for Arsenal.
Gabriel Martinelli has been spectacular for us, especially in our cup games.
Unai Emery himself has mentioned that the lad shows great hunger in training and has not minced words about it. The manager has given Martinelli chances, and he has taken them. It’s mouth-watering just thinking about Arsenal’s young talent – Saka, Martinelli, John-Jules, Saliba, Nelson, Willock, Smith-Rowe, Nketiah…
And I’m not even half-way through.
Gabriel Martinelli recently got interviewed on ESPN Brazil which was featured on Spotify through Reddit and he had this to say among other things:
“…I have to thank God for this opportunity, the gaffer and the team gave me a big welcome and I’m trying to get opportunities and do the best I can with them… I want to make my career here and try to be a legend.” (Emphasis, mine.)
It’s heartwarming to know that there are youngsters who want to fight for their place and put down roots at the club. Willock is an Arsenal man as are Nelson and Nketiah. And I’m sure that, the more opportunities youth get, the more young guns would stay put trusting that they’ll get a chance.
