Recently, Arsenal’s form has hinted at the possibility of a late-season slump. We currently lie in fourth place in the Premier League, some six points behind league leaders Chelsea, are out of Europe and might finish fourth yet again. However, we do have an FA Cup to play for, which would at last end this frustrating trophy drought providing we remain focused.
Although winning the FA Cup would look pretty ordinary compared to previous achievements, it would be remembered by younger generations, but older fans are likely to remember our various league titles, cups and European successes before beating one of Hull City or Sheffield United at Wembley in May. However, things could be a little better for us following a promising start.
Stuck in the Middle
Knowing about every facet of Arsenal’s history isn’t a pre-requisite of being a Gunner, but there are some things which every fan should know. Unfortunately, recent results from how well do you know your team, a quiz created by Ladbrokes suggest that some questions about all things Arsenal are a little too tricky for the casual fan to answer.
Close to a third of people taking the Arsenal quiz managed to get either four or five correct answers from a total of 10 questions. This is more or less what most other top-flight teams have scored, but a few Arsenal fans managed to show themselves to be a little more knowledgeable than the rest. 22% scored at least 8/10, although 11% only managed scores of between zero and two.
Behind our rivals
Comparing the scores of Arsenal fans to those of the other big London clubs, it seems that they haven’t fared too well. Although just 18% of Tottenham fans managed to score at least 8/10, more than half of them managed to get at least half their questions right.
Chelsea fans performed roughly the same, but West Ham fans showed plenty of knowledge, with only 6% scoring 2/10 or less.
Our main rivals from outside London were marginally better. 28% of Manchester City fans, for example, managed to score 8/10 or more.
Fortunately, Manchester United fans knew a little less than us, with just 15% of the Old Trafford faithful doing likewise.
At least we know for sure it could be worse!
