And so it is that we’ve lost Mesut Ozil for 3 months according to reports. I’m absolutely gutted and I’m genuinely unhappy. It is insane that we have this number of injuries so early in the season and you have to wonder what’s going on behind the scenes.
Is it the training methods? The coaching methods? The vitamins they’re given? The style of play? The bogeyman? I have no idea, but all i know is that something’s got to give. Ozil is not an injury prone player, it’s not like he came into Arsenal with a reputation of always being injured, so what the f*** is going on?
We now have three first team players all out until the new year…Let that sink in for a moment…three first team players in Debuchy, Giroud and now Ozil. We’ve always had it bad, but this is obscene!
Last season went like this:
- We Lost Chamberlain for 6 months
- We lost Podolski for 4 months
- We lost Santi for 1 month
- We lost Walcott for 1 month
- We got Santi back
- We got Podolski back
- We got Walcott back
- We lost Walcott again for 9 months
- We lost Ramsey for 6 weeks
- We got Chamberlain back
- We lost Wilshere for 6 weeks
- We lost Ozil for 6 weeks
Now that’s just off the top of my head. Now while this makes for grim reading, we never lost 3 for 3+ months. It was like a revolving door. This is a disaster.
Just Look at it:
- We lost Gibbs for 2 weeks
- We lost Aterta for 2 weeks
- We’ve lost Giroud for 4 months
- We got Aterta back
- We’ve lost Debuchy for 3 months
- We got Gibbs back
- We lost Monreal for 2 weeks
- We then lost Aterta again
- We lost Ramsey for 6 weeks
- And now we’ve lost Ozil for 3 months
And it’s only October!!! You don’t lose 3 pivotal players for this long, it just doesn’t happen.
But what can we do?
I’m no expert but it seems like there’s a genuine attempt by the club to find out what’s going on on the injury front, we even recruited Shad Forsythe and Andy Rolls albeit to much less fanfare. So it’s not like the club isn’t doing anything, whether it’s enough or not is a very good question and your guess is as good as mine as i have no idea really.
Now i have talked about how we have to be optimistic and i understand how that could be difficult right now. I also understand if people are gutted by this, but we shouldn’t make it out to be something it’s not. I have already seen comment s and tweets blaming Wenger’s refusal to sign Fabregas and to that i say “WFT???”
Don’t lose your head and start spouting nonsense because of a very unfortunate incident. I’ve heard people say we suddenly have no depth in midfield.
I disagree.
Strangely enough, i still talked about Rosicky yesterday and i was asking just how much he’d play this season. He was asked in an interview and he said he’d wait and if someone dropped, he’d step in… well…
You know…
Anyways, we do have Santi, Rosicky and Diaby (coughs) and i want to believe that they can hold the fort till Ozil returns. It’s not as if Santi is a bad play-maker, i will never forget his first season and if he can find that form (and from what i’ve seen so far this season, he’s not far off) then we’d miss Ozil but we won’t be crippled by his absence.
Let’s try and find a silver lining, Theo should be back and with Alexis and Welbeck should complete a trio of very scary attackers. While we’d have wanted Ozil to be the one feeding them those passes, Santi and Wilshere are by no means bad alternatives. So let’s hope that we don’t lose anyone during the interlull
Or we could just get him to help us out *wink*
