So we are in the middle of another interlull and I must say I have enjoyed this one. I hate Interlulls generally but this particular one was needed, there has been so much negativity around the club and so on with our performances being utter shit that a break was needed, thank you interlull
But it’s about to end and we have two difficult games coming up against United and Dortmund, I hear De Gea is injured and while I can’t say I’m an advocate for another human to feel pain, some of these rules go out the window when it comes to football no?
The Dortmund game should have been a seriously important one in our quest to win the group. But we certainly almost destroyed any hopes of finishing first with that really annoying show against Anderlecht, I don’t want to relive the game but we really, really shot ourselves in the foot there. Now a win against Dortmund is a must and I have a feeling they won’t make it easy for us. Even if we win the game, we’ll need them to lose or draw against Anderlecht while we beat the crap out of Galatasaray to come out on top and truthfully I don’t trust us as much.
It’s not all bad though, we have Olivier back (Go Shad!) And Debuchy saying he wants to be back next month. With Giroud back, we actually have just 3 full members of the squad out in Ozil, Debuchy and Koscielny…make that 4 if you count Ospina, but to be fair only those 3 actually affect us in any tangible way.
Some internationals were played and I didn’t bother watching any of it but I hear Welbeck scored two goals which can only do his confidence good, here’s hoping he can find the net more regularly for us, he’s a hardworking player and I like the idea of him and Giroud duking it out for a start, it can only bring out the best in them both.
The team still needs to find consistency and rhythm and I hope the time away probably gave them some time to mull over stuff and hopefully they come back even better. It wouldn’t do to always rely on Alexis (and I was so close to not mentioning him in the entire article).
That’s it I guess, have a great day and see you next time.
