I want to moan, I just want a shot at moaning.
But this time, not at the club but at the moaners.
Some may say it has been overdone, others may say “why not, just let them be” but, to that I say “please let a black guy just moan some sense into the current moaning”.
Before I go deep into the moaning however, I’ll leave some thoughts on Saturday’s game right here.
I believe we were good, our attack was much more fluent than against Southampton and dare I say even better than against Villa minus those 3 minutes. But my assessment may be sh*t as I didn’t watch both games in the same vein.
We were wasteful, we were foolish to a point.
HOW CAN WE HAVE OVER 15 CORNER KICKS THROUGHOUT THE GAME AND NOT SCORE FROM ANY but we still KEPT CROSSING THE BALL EVEN IN OPEN PLAY?
That piece did my head in. I think we were much better with Santi on than off, but that’s information for another blog post, and should hold some value after our game with Galatasaray.
MOANING BEGINS
I was shocked on Saturday, after the game to see many Arsenal fans sprout up all different kinds of opinions. Worse off was to watch a new set of Artificial Tragedies get invented by a fan base of a team who are 6 points off the top and 1 point behind the current defending champions. Suffice to say, I was a tad bit amused and a whole lot livid.
Of the tragedies invented, a midfield crisis was one of the ones that caught my eye.
That’s the one position I believe we have more than adequate cover, bar the Defensive Midfield position (quality related, rather than quantity). I believe how people respond to the injuries to Ramsey, and possible injury to Wilshere, tells you all about how they handle problems in their lives.
You don’t have to think too far to know that even if those two were out with injuries, Chamberlain can play there and Sanchez would replace him on the flanks. You won’t have to think too far to know that Rosicky can play there too if required. But no, rather than think of solutions and calm down, they would rather moan. WHY O WHY IS MOANING SO IMPORTANT?
It’s almost like questioning the club’s every decision and slamming them at every given opportunity is now a pre-requisite for the modern Arsenal fan. It is a tad bit frustrating to watch it all.
You’d think that lifting two trophies in the last year would change some of that, but it seems evident to me that some people have gone over the deep end and no matter what happens, bar a treble winning season, they’ll always have something to moan about.
There’s also a new trend, “SZCZESNY IS SHIT”. But I will address this in a different blog post.
“We have a defensive crisis”. Why does every injury have to be a crisis?
Why do we have to analyse and over analyse everything?
We have injuries, yes. But we still can afford to field a strong starting back 4 so why do we dwell so much on “What will we do when player X gets injured?”. Why not wait till player X gets injured and then see if his replacement loses us games before we start moaning so much?
Some would argue that they moan so they don’t have to moan in the future when the truth is, they’ll never stop.
I thought fans were supposed to be positive, to support, to cheer, to love. Why have we decided to keep doing the opposite?
We are yet to lose in the EPL this season, we are still in the mix until such a time as we aren’t. Why not just dwell on that instead?
The narrative that we are a club in crisis is flawed, but until our fans learn to not feed on that narrative, every loss, every injury, will be met with the ‘#ARSENAL IN CRISIS’ tag.
MOANING ENDS
Have a nice day folks.
