So a happy Thursday to everyone.
The weekend is almost upon us and we have the most fascinating of games coming up: We face the Sp*rs. Yes, we play those ugly, nauseating, annoying people. The ones with the chicken balancing on the ball, but you gotta say, it is an apt description of just how they are; a chicken can’t really balance on a ball can it? It would fall over, and boy have the tiny tots fallen over loads of times in history.
I mean, look at last season.
We went into the game with only two new signings (both free) and they came in with their army of newbies. They will beat us they said, the balance of power has shifted in North London they said…90 minutes later, we had won.
Then came the FA cup match in January.
Santi scored a great goal and then a 33 year old man then contrived to run almost the entire length of the field chased by a 24 year old. Yes, a 24 year old could not catch up to a 33 year old, take a bow Danny Rose.
Poor kid, the only thing he’ll ever be remembered for is that strike against us years ago. In fact I suspect that’s why he’s still being offered contracts. In interviews in his later life after he retires from football that could very well be the only thing of significance he’d ever have done (This is not to say he couldn’t be a philanthropist, providing African villages with water and stuff).
Then we played them again at white hart lane, and same 33 year old man fired in a rocket of a shot and Nacer Chadli went on to miss from like 4 yards
Hilarious stuff really. 😀
The Mister Spruce crew will be watching the game live (Yeah right, we’re in Naija, we’re just going to one place to watch it together and hopefully laugh at the tiny totts) and it’ll be fun. Our record against them has been pretty cool in recent times, the two 5-2 defeats spring to mind, something we never neglect to remind them of, ahem –
Now I understand we’re going into the game on the back of a Capital One Cup defeat, but hey *shrugs* that match was one of those that didn’t bother me much and I’m just happy that everyone came through unscathed. If anything, there are a lot of positives to draw from the game:
- Now I understand why Campbell doesn’t play more
- I totally get why Podolski also doesn’t play more
- Ospina’s pretty good, but I prefer Sczcesny
- Diaby could make a pretty kick ass DM
- My worries over the defence are slightly alleviated
- And Alexis really has to be taking our free kicks
That’s what I choose to take from the game and with that I’m pretty happy and I can move on to other matters like this weekend’s game.
We won our last game against Villa and this is an opportunity to gather some momentum before facing those gag inducing Chavs in another week or so. Everyone seems to be fit, they’ve been well rested, it’s a shame Walcott won’t be available for the game, that’ll have been too cool, but we can’t have it all can we?
Fun fact and the reason for my blog post title; Ozil has never faced the Spuds and I find this intriguing. They’ve been spared being split apart…till now.
When we purchased Ozil, we had just faced the tiny Totts. Come January, he was understandably rested for the game and in the away tie, he was out injured, so Ozil has never played them and this puts an extra spice into proceedings for me.
I personally hope he murders them on the pitch and he has a stormer of a game. Levy will almost die of a heart attack as he watches the guy Madrid hood-winked him over with the Bale deal take on his team and come out on top.
I’m in ebullient form today as I totally believe we can take them on and come out with a result. It would be nice if Welbeck scores, he’ll attain cult status immediately, so I’m totally looking forward to that and it’ll also be nice if Adebayor missed a sitter, that’ll make everything alright.
Anyhoo, that’s it for today, see you’ll later and let’s got get those chickens 😉
