So, we went ahead and lost to dem boyz from South of the Hampton. On the bright side, we didn’t lose to MK Dons. On a real though, I am not in any way arsed by the result, I couldn’t care less about the Capital One Cup.
Moving on to the topic of discussion in my head, what if I told you that I don’t share the popular opinion that we are in a defensive crisis? What if I told you that the answers which you believe are in buying 10mil+ versatile defender is right under our noses, what would you say?
I know I would call me mad, to be honest, I think I forgot to take my pills, or maybe a barbell fell on my head at the gym. Whatever misfortune is responsible for my current thought process as regards our defensive ‘crisis’ is irrelevant, as I am already thinking what I am thinking, and furthermore, you are reading it too.
I am of the unpopular opinion that if push comes to shove, Hector Bellerin and Isaac Hayden can step up and do what is required. I reckon that most are more upset at the thought of the club supposedly ‘hoarding’ money than at our defensive issues.
I am not about to give you in depth analysis of both their games to prove that they can do a job if called upon, I have no time to sit and research about their past performances because whatever I will find will change nothing.
I am choosing to see a little ray of light when others have chosen to see just darkness, and this is because I can afford to do so. I however understand that most feel panic and I further understand why. But continuous worrying and complaining changes absolutely nothing.
NOTHING.
ZIP.
NADA.
Hayden may be young and inexperienced but the truth of the matter is that if money was spent on him during this last transfer window to get him from a club in say Germany or Spain, no one would be moaning about it, or to put it more adequately, not too many will be moaning. What the hell, most will still be moaning, that’s how things are.
We always want players who are ready but forget to realize that to get ready, you have to get played. Would I prefer we had defensive cover like Manchester City? Of course yes. But last I checked, we don’t deal in oil money.
Maybe I’m sprouting shit and all those who have chosen to worry and proffer solutions are right, but that matters not to me. The season is already well underway and there is nothing that can be done other than to get behind the team we are supposed to love UNCONDITIONALLY.
That is not to say I won’t scream swear words at my t.v if any one of the kids cost us a game, I believe that to be reflex action.
Things could be worse, we could be Man Utd.
