So its still the week after the Chelsea game and I still see excerpts of the Chelsea game all around. Terry saying Arsenal would not win trophies with the kind of football we play, fans throwing darts at each other of the 50years without Chelsea winning a trophy and their fans in turn recalling those 10 or so years when we did not win a trophy.
Thats their business jare, a lot of other things have been going on in and around the club in the course of the week since that Chelsea game and I decided to fill you all in on them.
Now where to start…
Let me begin with news from Italy that our Prodigal son, Lukas ‘Lord of Instagram’ Podolski finally scored a goal for Inter milan and it was all the more sweeter given that it was the winning goal in a game which they won 2-1.It remains to be seen how Poldi would be welcomed back to the Emirates. I am kinda hoping he does some magic during the remaining part of his loan spell so they can buy him.
Then there is Uncle ‘Sign Dat Thing’ who has said Arsenal are the best team in Europe and that we can win the league next season if we can somehow manage to stay free from injuries. Aren’t these things we already know?? #justsaying
’There is a lot of competition for places so everyone seems to lift a gear and play extremely well. It makes it a bit more difficult for people to get into the team,’ Walcott said, quoted on the club’s official website, www.arsenal.com.
‘I think, especially this season, not many people thought we would be challenging for the Premier League.
‘In this calendar year, we have been the best team in Europe.
‘It is the strongest the squad has been and everyone is staying fit as well.
‘There aren’t many injuries in the squad, which is important. If we had an injury-free season, I think we could lift the title.
’Arsenal head to Hull on Bank Holiday Monday looking to keep pressure on Manchester City in the race for second place, and with it automatic qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Captain Mikel Arteta is set to step up his training this week after an ankle problem hampered recovery from a calf injury, while midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is another continuing rehabilitation from an inflamed groin which has seen him out since the FA Cup win at Manchester United last month. I doubt we’ll ever see a time when everyone would be fit, until we let Diary go of course. The dude always needs a partner to gist with during his injury spells so plus or minus there must be injured players.lol
Moving on, it is safe to say it has been a week of nominations for Ozil. After being nominated for the PFA Fans’ player of the month for April, he has also been nominated alongside fellow Gunners Podolski(on loan at Inter) and Per Mertesacker for the German Football Ambassador. Lets hope we comes out tops in one of them or both preferably.
Still moving around the club, Olivier Giroud has admitted he gets ‘p*****’ with people talking about his latest hairstyle rather than his ability on the pitch for Arsenal.
Giroud appeared to misinterpret a question about Arsene Wenger praising his animal instincts in Arsenal’s attack in the build-up to their 0-0 draw with Chelsea.
Instead the Arsenal forward, who has scored 18 goals this season, claimed he gets annoyed with people commenting on his slick appearance.
Giroud said: ‘I don’t want to speak any more about my appearance, my hair or anything, I get p***** about that.
‘I don’t know (if I am an animal). I know one thing, in sport you have to question yourself every week and be ready in your head and you have to be at 100 per cent of determination if you want to keep going and win games, you cannot afford to be at 80 or 90 per cent.’
Ehmmm, bros that was not what they asked you ooh. Maybe had the question been asked in French, he would have gotten it. Atlas we know he is aware of the world tripping for his hair.lol
And then there is Francis Coquelin who came out to challenge Theirry Henry’s opinion that Arsenal need a top top striker before we can win the league again.
Wait. Pause there a little bit. He challenged The Theirry Henry, Arsenal Legend with a status of him outside of the Emirates?? Well, I can only say his fighting spirit doesn’t stop on the pitch.
Speaking after the 0-0 draw with Premier League leaders Chelsea on Sunday, Henry told Sky Sports: ‘They need a goalkeeper, they still need a centre back, they still need a holding midfielder and, I’m afraid, they need a top, top quality striker to win this league again.’
Coquelin, who has played a vital role in Arsenal’s late-season resurgence, has since hit back at the Gunners legend and insists Giroud is worthy of his place in the first team.
The French midfielder told RMC: ‘Thierry Henry is wrong. Giroud shows his potential every week.
‘He showed that he has the level to be the Arsenal striker and we can win titles with him.
‘We are disappointed with the result against Chelsea because we were on a good run.
‘Now the target is to focus on the end of the championship, win all the remaining matches to get this second place, and of course win the FA Cup final.’
Thats all I have for now though but before I go, I should really bring it to your attention that Arsenal have gone almost 2years without losing a game in the FA Cup. Just so you know sha.
See you all later, hope you enjoy reading this.
Oreva out!!!!!!!
