Yesterday at 10am, I was sat at the Doctor’s office waiting for tests giving me the ‘all clear’ to continue having ice cream anytime I liked.
And then, weirdly, I noticed for the first time how scantily filled the waiting room was for the first 10 or so minutes I was sat there. There was hardly any movement in or out of the private clinic.
Much like Arsenal…
Well, until Lacazette.
But then, still, we need to push out A LOT of deadwood and good players who don’t just play. We’ve got so much, I can’t even believe! There’s:
Debuchy, Akpom, Le Coq, Gibbs/Monreal (one of the two have to go), Lucas Perez, Joel Campbel, Wilshere, Emiliano Martinez or Ospina (again, choose one). I’d have mentioned Per but he will remain to join the backroom staff next season.
How did we get here though?
So many average players who were cast-offs or near rejects of top clubs have become our stars. Have we become Everton? (Lukaku and soon, Rooney). We need to do better with our future purchases.
Let’s hope the signing of Lacazette and maybe the fact that we’ve hit our limit for non-home grown players would cause the club to push out as much dross as it can. The problem, however, might be: Who would want to buy?
