In terms of a dress rehearsal for the game against Olympiacos, winning was good.
If we get the result we had on Saturday on Wednesday, we’ll be good
If we put up the performance I hear we had against Sunderland…
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Yeah, we’ll be screwed.
I didn’t see the game. You see, my friends played a rather elaborate trick on me (well, not really elaborate…it was nothing really). So I was a little disappointed with Arsenal’s recent form. So I told myself ‘Why not miss the Sunderland game? We’ve been kinda shit, so…you know’
So I resolved not to see the game and my friends took advantage and fixed a hangout for Saturday. I agreed confident that I could do without seeing the game. So Saturday came and as I ran my last errand before going for the hangout I realised– I wanted to see the game. I called tentatively stating that I might not make the hangout…I was threatened with a most horrible death– to me and my family if I missed the hangout.
So scared for myself and my family, I decided to go for the hangout…but i’m sorry Arsenal, I was thinking of you the whole time. I sat while my friends laughed and ate and drank and I moped, checking online for any news. Long and short, we won, I was happy. Then I went scrounging for every little titbit of information about the game. What I heard didn’t make me happy. Then I watched extended highlights and saw with my own eyes just how many chances Sunderland created and I said to myself ‘Oh dear, if we let Olympiacos do this, we’re dead’
Thankfully Ozil was his awesome self, Joel Campbell got another goal and Cech was imperious in goal. I was quite please with that. You can hate John Terry all you like but he wasn’t lying when he said Cech was going to save us some 15 points over the course of the season. He’s doing it for us at the moment and he’s awesome.
I am now worried about the Ox. Apparently he wasn’t very good. Ramsey was back in the middle and he was okay from what I saw. He had a bunch of chances that he could have buried, but he scored one and assisted another so it can’t be all bad. We are going to miss Cazorla and Alexis. That much was evident from the game, but I don’t think we’re dead and buried, at least not in the league. The inconsistent nature of our rivals has really given us a chance, it would be a good idea to take advantage of all the inconsistency and find some consistency ourselves. Of course this can’t be easy with all the injuries we have, but it’s not all bad. Walcott got some minutes, Alexis could be back soon and if we survive the rest of the month we would have a lot of much missed guys back. That would be lovely.
So fingers crossed for Wednesday. Also Cazorla has had surgery on his knee and that means 3-4 months out. That could be the rest of the season, let’s hope we can manage without him, maybe find a new style of playing till he comes back, to win anything we have to be flexible, so let’s try that. Anyways, that’s that.
Till later
