Lukas Podolski has left Arsenal. I repeat people, Lukas Podolski has left Arsenal.
The German put finishing touches to his move from Arsenal to Galatasaray after undergoing a medical and signing a contract in Istanbul on Saturday.
The 30-year-old was greeted by fans at the Sabiha Gokcen Airport on Saturday morning after flyinh in to finalise his move.
Poldi then underwent a medical before signing a three-year contract at the Turk Telecom Arena, understood to be for an initial fee of €2.5 million plus add-ons.
According to his agent, Wenger tried to convince Poldi to stay on at the Emirates but couldn’t assure the Lethal forward a starting shirt and thus he had to move.
Speaking to Bild, Nassim Touihri (Poldi’s agent) said:
‘’He wanted to keep Lukas but couldn’t give him a guarantee that he will be a starter.
‘’That’s why we agreed on a transfer.’’
Since coming to Arsenal from Cologne in 2012, Podolski has scored 31 goals in 81 appearances. You can agree with me that some of those goals were absolute beauties and would forever remain in our hearts.
I can bet that Gala signed him because of that his first goal against them in the Champions league last season. I do hope he can reproduce some like that for them in the Turkish league though.
Poldi spent the second-half of last season at Inter Milan and scored just one goal in 17 appearances for the Nerazurri.
As we wish Poldi goodluck at his new club, I am just gonna be here watching a compilation of his all his goals at Arsenal and try to pick the best of them all.
For now its still that goal against Montpellier where he did that one-two with Giroud.
What was your favourite Poldi goal?
