Morning and a happy new year to you all. This is my first post for the year 2015…
This is the part where you all applaud
No?
Nothing?
Fine then.
Watching Arsenal yesterday dispatch of Hull City fairly comfortably gave one mixed feelings. You sometimes wonder why they don’t do this a bit more. Now lets be true to ourselves, there were some bad passes and some move breakdown that was really, really annoying, but in all it was a very encouraging performance
It was interesting when i saw the team sheet and we had a frontline full of Ferraris, it was the first time seeing all three together and it didn’t take long for Alexis and Campbell combine and force a save from the Hull keeper. In my opinion I would have wanted Campbell to do better, but hey! Wally was also a tad wasteful, but he’s been injured for like a year so one has to put that into consideration and not judge too harshly.
Santi Cazorla also had a storming game and he was buzzing everywhere and it was such fun to watch and Coquelin tried to be as Flamini (good Flamini) as possible, complete with rash, dangerous tackle.
But the person who caught my eye the most was Tomas Rosicky.
God I love that man!
Now I may be biased…who am I kidding, I AM biased. He is such a talented player and I love him from the bottom of my heart. He’s 34 but he doesn’t look it, not even a little bit and he gave a performance worthy of his nickname ‘Little Mozart’.
He was quick, he was nippy, he showed great intelligence and vision and almost scored. He also created an amazing chance for Alexis with what could only be described as an amazing run.
He’s so quick that I sometimes think he’s lying about his age, maybe when he was younger he lied that he was older so that he could play with the older players and whoop their asses…that’s my story and I’m sticking to it
He’s a great player to have on the team and with his performance yesterday and the one against QPR, you start to wonder; why doesn’t he play more?
No I understand that he’s 34 and is getting on in years and the truth is there’s no team he’ll get into today where he’ll play week in week out (except say Sunshine stars, but I digress…hehehe)
So it’s understandable if he doesn’t play every game, but this few?
Surely he’s better than that and one would only hope that Arsene sees that now. There’s still a lot of football to be played this season and with our luck with injuries you can’t help but suspect that Rosicky will get more chances.
Will he stay beyond the season? Who knows, but i surely hope so, nothing would make me happier than for him to get a testimonial match, he certainly deserves it. He is a hard worker who doesn’t shy away from working for the team, he presses, harries and puts in the occasional slide tackle.
Is he Arsenal’s most underrated player? Aterta certainly thinks so and somehow i’m also inclined to agree
Till later…
