I’m thinking of our Monday night training session at the K.C stadium with a sheepish grin on my face and a curious case of arousal. Wengerball in its sexiest form, dressed up very much like Beyonce at the Met Gala 2015, if you don’t know what she looked like, please put Google to good use.
First of all, with no disrespect to Hull City intended, they deserved a proper thrashing on the night. The game for the most part was reminiscent of that first half performance against Napoli at the Emirates last season. Sublime.
Still stroking my beard at the thought of the game when out of my subconscious leaps this interesting image about our ready made world class sure hitters; Sanchez and Özil.
Fire & Ice.
In that moment, I knew the gods of interesting ideas and titles for songs and blog posts had shined on their devout worshiper once again. Suffice to say, I ran around screaming “EUREKA! EUREKA!! I’ve thought it, I’ve thought it!” like one of our revered worshipers from centuries past, albeit I wasn’t naked like said person. ‘Hey Albert, I see you’.
From that moment a seed was planted, and it took just under 2hrs for it to become a full blown forest, every thought of Sanchez and Özil is now followed by red flames or blue flames. Mentally reviewing the performance of both players, it is not hard to imagine why I thought so.

His lung bursting runs when he has the ball at his feet or when he is chasing down a through ball, his quite visible aggressiveness when closing down defenders, his tremendous demolishing power when he strikes the ball towards goal. Even when he falls, he does so with only the grace of an inferno. I can almost see the fire flaming from his feet when he lays waste to opposition players bought with real money, the carnage he leaves behind is a joy to behold as an Arsenal fan, but cause for concern for the insurance agencies that own these players.
Don’t laugh, this is serious.
Alexis Sanchez is the fire that burns from the first minute to the last, sometimes blazing, other times flaming, but he burns all the same.

The calm. The Özil.
Whether it is picking up a pass with exquisite control, making passes only the greek gods could see beforehand – with the style only the Persian gods could execute, or freezing people out of their defensive destinies, Özil makes it all seem so simple.
He’s so good at being calm, it took the average Arsenal fan 1 year, 5 months, 2 days, 5 hours, 30 mins and 11 seconds to see that he wasn’t exactly lazy, he just had the false image of a lazy footballer. If you think that’s long, take solace in the fact that the BPL pundits and English media still haven’t come around to the realization that Özil isn’t lazy, he is just the Ice King.
It’s somewhat of a marvel that our game is sped up by the dictator who seems on the surface, to be so slow, you’d think we’d be a slow team.
What isn’t clear to the average football watcher is that the umlaut one employs a mind distortion field, it is almost like he bends space-time when the ball gets to his feet. Whether it is picking up a pass with exquisite control, making passes only the greek gods could see beforehand – with the style only the Persian gods could execute, or freezing people out of their defensive destinies, Özil makes it all seem so simple.
He’s made me pull a few strands of my curly afro out a few times with his level of calm, but sitting in my terribly decorated room (no decoration) and thinking of that back heeled/ side boot volley pass at the KC Stadium a few nights ago, I have nothing but admiration for the man and a fair bit of saliva dropping from my mouth, suffice to say I am drooling at the thought. Even his falls when he’s been hacked down are done with Venus-like grace.
Sanchez is the fire, Özil is the ice; and I hope, this post has been nice 😏
