While there has not been much traffic in the roads leading into the Emirates, the exit doors have been used way more frequently this transfer window.
The latest exit being the movement of French striker, Yaya Sanogo to Ajax on a season long loan deal.
With Ajax possessing two former Arsenal players in Marc Overmars (who is the director of football over at Ajax) and Bergkamp (who is assistant to manager Frank de Boar), Wenger feels the deal would help Sanogo improve as a player especially working with those two.
Wenger has put in faith in both of his two former Arsenal heroes to refine Sanogo at Ajax.
Sanogo completed the loan move to Amsterdam on Friday and is said to be excited at the chance of working with Overmars and Bergkamp.
Speaking about the move, Wenger said ‘He will join Ajax certainly, but we have not finished the paperwork.’
‘He will go on loan. He is at that age where he needs to play.
‘He came to us injured and it took us a while to get him to top level.
‘I am sure it will be good for Ajax and he has an opportunity to play in the Champions League and that’s vital for his experience.
‘Dennis Bergkamp and Marc Overmars work there and we have a good relationship with them.’
That last sentence has to mean ‘with both of them working there, I can be sure Sanogo would get enough playing time even if he doesn’t perform as expected.’
From where I am though, the deal seems all completed as Sanogo has even played in a friendly for Ajax against Wolfsburg.
It’s good to see Sanogo moving to a Champions League team and we can only hope he comes back a much much better player and he is right now.
On further transfers, the only likely ones are also through the exit doors, no incoming transfer seems imminent right now except of course Wenger is keeping it as low key as he always does.
Once again, good luck to Sanogo at Ajax.
