It was after the game on New Year’s day against Southampton which we lost 2-0 thanks to world class errors from our number one goalie, Wojciech Szczesny. Below is a convo that ensued between Woj and an unknown teammate.
Szczesny: Hey mate, am gonna take a shower.
Teammate: Aiit Wojie, you sure do need one after having a bad game but how come you are going in with shorts??
Szczesny: Nothing, just feel like.
Some minutes later, Wenger walks in and the whole room was filled with smoke. He checks around and there! caught in the act! Wojiech Szczesny!
Wenger was so furious. I mean why won’t he be, after Szczesny had cost us the game with his two world class errors?!! And now, instead of sulking or crying or anything he was there, in the showers, SMOKING!!!
Was he trying to blaze his sorrows away or what?? Szczesny knows best.
Wenger was so pissed we all did not hear about this till yesterday, the fifth. They sure know how to keep things under the wraps at the Emirates.
Wojciech Szczesny has been fined a reported £20,000 for smoking in the showers after a game. Its not the first time that the Poland international has been caught smoking and he was twice caught with a cigarette in the summer of 2013.
Wenger has been outspoken on the subject in the past following incidents relating to Jack Wilshere -the midfielder was pictured smoking on holiday last summer – and William Gallas.
Szczesny was forced to apologize for his behaviour – and it is unclear whether he might also be axed from this week’s Premier League clash at home to bogey side Stoke.
David Ospina was in goal for the FA Cup replay against Hull and he sure did have a good game., keeping a clean sheet in the process with Wojie not even making the bench.
That may have been planned – the Polish keeper didn’t play in any of Arsenal’s domestic cup games last season. But Former Arsenal star John Jensen had claimed on Danish TV that Szczesny, 24, had suffered a bitter fall-out with Wenger and would not play again this season, although Arsenal denied that allegation and said Szczesny remains part of their first-team plans.
Left to me, Wojie should sit out for a while and reflect on his actions. After Sunday’s showing, Ospina should be given a run in the team especially now that he is fit.
For the records, that convo I shared above only took place in my head..
So over to you guys, do you think Szczesny should sit out for a while or Wenger should just forgive and forget and throw him back into the team against stoke??
