Okay so another win another disappointing display. We were away at the stadium of light and i know we all know what happened there. We had an absolute shocker and then some pure grit from Sanchez won us the game.
I was intrigued when i saw the team sheet and even more intrigued when i saw that Sanchez was playing the No 10 role. He’s done it before at Udinese and it worked. He’s just that kind of player. He’s so hardworking it’s almost painful to watch. And i’ve said it before, we can’t moan about having a player like him doing this when everyone isn’t performing. We’ve needed a Sanchez for ages and it’s so nice to finally have someone like him doing what he’s doing for the team.
Now i anticipate news of him being injured tomorrow.
I mean, it is the Arsenal way afterall.
So we won and we have Burnley next week. A winnable fixture on the face of it, but you know how we’ve been with winnable fixtures…we have a way of…how do they call it sef…bungling it!
Sunderland weren’t exactly great and look how that turned out. We had to be saved by the brilliance of one man. That is not to say that i didn’t thoroughly enjoy the victory and would take another 25+ wins like this. As the title suggests, we may very well be stumbling our way to some sort of momentum. I mean, if we can win Burnley, that’ll be three wins…not too bad if you ask me.
And then i watched the El Clasico and it really was a fun game, but while watching the game, something occurred to me: Madrid were using a central midfield pairing of Modric and Kroos…in a 4-4-2 formation. Also i’ve seen them do this in a 4-2-3-1 and it got me thinking; Kroos and Modric aren’t exactly the strongest most dominating people ever. None of them is a DM. They’re both attacking midfielders actually, but they seemed to work well even against a team and skillful and fluid as Barcelona.
So what am i saying with all this?
Why can’t we use Ramsey and Wilshere as a double pivot? Now i understand that this has been something that has been said before or suggested but quickly shut down. But watching Kroos and Modric made me really think about it. I don’t Kroos or Modric is stronger than a Wilshere or Ramsey. With proper discipline and hardwork, i think they can work in tandem. If Wilshere drives forward, Ransey sits back and vice versa…i dunno i feel it’s worth a thought
Note that this is just my opinion, i’m not sitting in front of my laptop going “Wenger is stupid! When all he has to do is pair Ramsey and Wilshere!” or i’m not saying this is the answer to all our problems. I’m just saying that the two of them don’t seem to work together further forward but they just might make it if they are further back.
No midweek football for us and the truth is with our long injury list that is a bit of a relief, so i just hope everyone that can be fine is fine for Saturday’s game against Burnley
Till then.
