The team of the week popped up some surprises as new names featured and some old names. What brings a smile to my face is that our players got featured; I would have had somebody’s head if they hadn’t.
And excellent performance from the boys.
In Goal…
We have Mignolet feature for Liverpool. Mignolet gave the Scousers their second successive clean sheet as they faced Aston Villa.
In Defence…
Branislav Ivanovic kept a clean sheet for the Cha*s and set up a goal as they annihilated Swansea. James Collins who’s a pretty new face in the Team of the Week round up kept a clean sheet for West Ham against Hull before running away with a win.
Our very own Koscielny was part of the very impressive…did I say impressive? That’s not the word.
Outstanding…yes, outstanding display is the right word.
So, Koscielny kept a clean sheet and was part of the defense who put out an outstanding display away at the Etihad. Now it beggars belief that Nacho Monreal wasn’t on this list because I felt he gave an outstanding performance *kmt*
Anyways, a lad named Aaron Ramsey Cresswell played well in defense for West Ham and spearheaded some really good attacking moves hence he beat our Nacho Monreal to this list…I know, I know, I’ll drop the matter soon enough.
In Midfield…
I start this line with a smile Santi Carzola. The End.
Okay, not the end, but, when the Seriously Football crew (who by the way are quite stingy with plaudits) call Carzola ‘the imperious midfielder’ know, my friend, that Santi Carzola was simply orgasmic. *sigh*
Santi was the heart beat of the midfield, the little magician, he had his hat and his wand and his bag of tricks… No, I’m not done yet.
And he dribbled and dazzled and twisted and turned and scored and made an assist…it’s unbelievable Jeff!
Now, to the others who were also a little bit brilliant in midfield…
Michael Carrick (now you know why I said ‘little bit’) kept the Manchester United midfield ticking as they got a win over QPR. Oscar was on form for Chelsea in their demolition of Swansea with two goals. And then some dude called Eljero Elia won Southampton their game scoring two goals.
In Attack…
Diego Costa scored 2 goals and got an assist while Dwight Gayle’s double helped Crystal Palace make a dramatic come-back at Burnley.
