Now i’m sure i’ve mentioned this before, but i really like writing on Mondays when we play on a Saturday as this usually gives me time to mull things over and look at situations in a rational manner and it is with this same rational manner in which i’d use to look over Saturday’s defeat to Manchester United
WHAT. THE. FUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i’ve watched Arsenal lose a lot of games, in very different ways over the years, but i must confess i find it quite difficult to find a defeat as annoying and as unnecessary as the one one on saturday. Manchester United were so poor, so, so poor and we couldn’t take advantage. What was wrong? was it the big game mentality? Was De Gea so amazing that we couldn’t go past him? Did they insert a micro chip in Welbeck’s brain before selling him to us to prevent him from scoring against them like EVER? I have no idea but it was as galling a defeat as i’d ever experienced.
We had possession, we had chances, we had everything but a goal and yet we pride ourselves on a reasonable attack. Welbeck was my main culprit in the goal scoring department, i was pretty steamed at Jack too for missing what was the chance of the game in my opinion and the whole thing just sucked
It seems to be a template when we play against big team;
We play well, create chances, refuse to score, then we’re pegged back by one goal, we get desperate, push everyone forward and then they counter and score another: Game over
It happened against Chelsea…in fact i’m beginning to think that Wilshere missing chances is a sure sign that we’ll lose cos he did something similar against Chelsea. I thought the team had a good first half, but remember tweeting my fears
It just looked scripted to me
We’re in our worst start in 32 years and support for Arsene is virtually non existent. I’m tired of us falling for the same things again and again. Issues that should have been addressed in the team weren’t and now we’re paying for it. We needed a defender and to my mind a defensive midfielder going into the season, i don’t know if we’d have won the game if they were there but i’m ready to wager that maybe we would have and the coach has to take responsibility for that. All the shots we played were hit straight at De Gea giving the semblance of a super game played by the Spaniard. I just think we made it easy for him.
Well we play Dortmund next and after our first defeat at the Emirates in the premier league since opening day last season, i’m finding it hard to see a silver lining here…oh wait, Giroud’s goal was well taken….i think that’s it
Our season looks over doesn’t it, i’m losing zeal with every match day, but we’re fans, so i guess we just have to tough this out.
Let’s hope Wilshere isn’t like super crocked and we sort ourselves out and maybe, just maybe we might still have a good season (not holding my breath though)
Till later
