Understandably, sexy Sanchez needs to be rested, the Copa America was grueling. It means he’s out of the Asia tour.
But Welbeck…he’s injured. Again.
And its not the first time, or the second or the third time with this knee. See here during his time at Manchester United.
I like the lad a lot. Unlike Podolski, who – despite us loving him a lot – was quite lackadaisical on the pitch, Welbeck works for you. He’ll fight for balls, track back, draw in defenders etc. You can’t help but like him for his dedication.
But this knee…
He mentioned having Osgood-Schlatter disease in his knees which makes his bones grow quicker than his muscles:
I started growing late so I was a late developer. I got Osgood-Schlatter disease in my knees because my bones were growing quicker than my muscles and it’s hard to get out on the training pitch, then afterwards you’re in agony every single time you play football.
“You’ve just got to take it as a positive and see what you can do to make yourself better.
“Looking back at it now it helped me develop into a man mentally as well as physically because you’ve got to rest your body and learn the game from a different perspective.”
If there’s anything we can do for him medically through research, let’s. And if there’s anything we can do as Gunners, it’s to encourage him with goodwill messages.
