Looking at news coming out of the football world today, I saw reports that Wolves are close to completing a deal for our third choice goalie Emiliano Martinez.
I really don’t know why we are about to let him go on loan and I am of the school of thought that he should remain at the club, just in case.
Yes, he is a young goalie and getting some game time would help his development. Sadly this game time only looks feasible at a club other than ours.
We let Szczesny go and now Martinez is almost going to Wolves. That move leaves us with two keepers.
I somehow have a bad feeling about this, except Wenger is planning to buy a keeper we don’t know about, I really feel Martinez should continue his development at the club and man the posts for the U-21 team.
I sound evil yh?? But believe me its in the clubs’ best interest in the long run.
Knowing who Wenger is, there is most certainly going to be a recall option on his proposed loan move to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Just say Wolves biko.
Memory lane takes me back to 2009-2010 season when we had our first two keepers out injured and had to call on then third choice, Vito Mannone to save our asses so we didn’t have to use Gallas in goalJ.
Like it or not, Mannone did a pretty good job back then for a third choice and also used to period to get some games under his already rusting belt.
As events happened he later got relegated to second choice and then back to third before taking the escape-from-third-choice-goalkeeper route to Sunderland where is currently tussling for starting spots with Manchester City reject Costel Pantilimon.
Looking at Cech and Ospina though, injuries should be that much of a scare but we know how these things happen. Unexpectedly.
All I am tryna say is we shouldn’t be loaning Martinez out or if we do, there MUST be a recall from loan option in that deal.
That’s all.
