There’s been dissent among Gunners regarding Arsene Wenger’s ambition and his team’s will to win, the team’s confidence and the team’s consistency.
My advice has been to support the club till the end, they need it now more than ever; but never remove from your mind the fact that we’ve had a fundamental problem since the Invincibles dispersed – the problem of implosion.
The whole of the EPL wait for it. And it happens.
Always.
And the Gunners who were used to winning before find it alright to get by.
I hear only mediocre individuals make excuses because they lack the will to win irrespective of the circumstances. Winners have the will to win despite the circumstances and most times, they do win irrespective of the circumstances.
Reading and analysing Wigan’s review of the match, the seem the more confident of the two teams, after all, they slayed Goliath (Manchester-City) twice.
The club has been to Wembley quite a lot recently but, in general, for Wigan Athletic to reach a semi-final is special and I’m sure our supporters will realise that it’s a great opportunity to visit the capital and the home of football…Uwe Rosler
The manager believes Arsene Wenger is under pressure to win something and that Wigan would need support from the fans to fully utilise their underdog status.
On the other hand, Wenger goes down memory lane and tells off how Arsenal did not deserve to win the FA Cup in 2005 because the other team was stronger or something akin to that...
In fact in 2005 we did not deserve to win the final,” he said. “It [being defensive] was the only way we could win it.
Maybe Wenger doesn’t want to put undue pressure on his players but they way I see it, Wigan seem more self assured of beheading another Goliath – Us. Arsenal.
Against a strong Everton and a lacklustre Swansea (I feel we should have won that game), we dithered. Against Chelsea, we imploded. The second game against Manchester City saw a more respectable performance. The kind of performance I believe we should be giving all the big teams.
Because…
We are a big team. Never tell me we used to be. We are!
So no other big team should be banging 6 or 8 goals into our goal, it shows lack of team cohesion, lack of focus, of bite of everything!
Giroud says the team want to win it for the fans, maybe the team need to want to win it for themselves. Maybe then they’ll be more involved.
If sometimes you are not at 100 per cent in the head, you are not ready enough… we were not sufficient in our commitment and in our intention to play at Everton.
A team of our cadre should be 100% everytime, or maybe 95% . But against strong teams, we need to be 100%. You might state injuries as the problem but again can it be explained why Arsenal have topped the injury table for over 4 years?
Something is amiss.
As we play at Wembley on Saturday many tip Wigan to go through; they’ve got the David and Goliath tape rolling already, that one shot that would take us down.
Let’s prove them wrong, stomp all over ‘David’ and bring that Cup home.
