Seems Wenger has need of Wilshere at least for this season. Sky Sports reports:
“It’s good Wilshere is back and available,” the Arsenal boss said. “He needs games now, he may play on Monday night (for U23s).
“Overall his natural progression is important for him to get back fit. He is not far away now.
“At the moment his future is at the club. I plan for him to be here for the whole season, after that we will see at the end of the season.”
I’ve always been of the opinion that we should sell Wilshere. He’s a good player on his day but, his running into tackles and injuries have made him more of a burden than an asset. Rumours about him going to Juventus and the Aston Villa were rife a few days ago but nothing’s materialised.
During his loan spell at Bournemouth, of which he stayed injury free for the longest time, he didn’t make as much impact as I would have thought he’d make. You don’t see Bournemouth running around to make his deal permanent like Nathan Ake’s.
Seeing that Carzola is out injured for a bit, maybe Wenger plans to use Wilshere as a buffer to play the role Carzola is best known for. It’s left for us to see.
