As I pick my laptop to write this post match report, I don’t even know which of my emotions to use in writing. Maybe anger or disappointment or even disgust at the rubbish that we played.
I really wish there was a word that contained all of them combined but I can’t seem to find one right now.
In a game everyone expected us to win, we went and totally messed everything up, not just for today alone but for our chances of finishing top in this group.
Dinamo clearly didn’t read the script.
They came with a-defend-and-hit-them on the counter plan and boy did that work for them. They sure did show why they are on that 41 game unbeaten run.
Looking at the scores at full time, all I could see were reasons why some people don’t get to start in our team.
I really want to let anger finish this post for me but then I’ll let Gillian handle the angry Gooner cos mine might be a lot more brutal.
We started the game as we do all other games, passing the ball about, possessing them, making forward runs and all.
First chance came from that Cazorla corner, Giroud got a head to it and the keeper saved it.
Next was Giroud again, Chamberlain beating the defence down that right wing and squaring to Giroud who hit the post and then played it on the keeper at the second time of asking.
It looked like it was going to be a bath from then on but boy were we in for a shocker.
The few times they attacked us, we looked shaky and I have to admit that Coquelin cover was really missed. Uncle Arteta was non-existent in that game tonight and IMO should have come off at half-time.
Before we knew what would happen, counter-attack and they were all over us, we were all over the place. Debuchy was caught out of positon and Chambo had to chase back.
Dude ended up chasing the ball into the post. Own-goal Chamberlain, Zagreb lead 1-0.
Bullshit Bullshit Bullshit.. That was what we played till half time.
Oh, I forgot, Giroud got a red card after getting a very stupid first yellow and even more stupid second one. Left us short.
Losing 1-0 and down to 10 men.
58 mins, they get a corner. Arteta shies away from the ball, Gibbs barely jumps and its 2-0.
It could have been more thanks to the saves Ospina had to make today.
Debuchy, Arteta, Chamberlain, Gibbs, Oh Arteta. Yes I know I said Arteta earlier, I just need to reiterate how shit he was tonight. He can’t defend shit.
Now am angry.
Wenger made his subs tho. Walcott, Campbell and Coquelin coming on
12 minutes to go, Coquelin wins a header, ball to Sanchez, Sanchez to Walcott, goal.
But it was too late.
Zagreb were going to defend this with their inheritance and they did.
95 mins. Final whistle and they had won, we had lost the first game of this season.
