Governments all around the world have ordered lockdowns of whole cities in an attempt to flatten the infection curve of the novel COVID-19. Staying at home for all that time has not been easy and many people can’t wait to go out and blow off some steam but not everybody is waiting for Government orders to go out as is the case with some Arsenal players who broke quarantine orders.
David Luiz, Granit Xhaka, Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette broke lockdown orders and were spotted outside. The quartet have been spoken to and warned by the club for breaking lockdown rules.
According to Sky Sports, the Gunners have contacted the players in question after pictures and videos of them appeared online proving them breaking the government lockdown rules put in place to slow down the spread of the coronavirus.
The UK has been in lockdown since last month in an attempt to slow down the spread of COVID-19, protect the NHS and save lives, which has meant millions of people have been forced to discover a new way of every day life.
However, videos online have shown Pepe, who joined the club in a club-record fee from Lille last summer, meeting up with friends and playing football in North London, Xhaka and Luiz met up in a park in Southgate and Lacazette was spotted talking to a car valeter on his driveway.
This news comes just days after Tottenham Hotspur players Serge Aurier and Moussa Sissoko issued apologies for posting videos on social media platform Instagram, showing them training together.
That was not the first time, either, that Spurs had hit the headlines for breaking the government’s social distancing rules, with head coach Jose Mourinho and midfielder Tanguy Ndombele spotted holding a one-to-one training session in North London earlier this month.
Arsenal have taken the matter seriously going as far as contacting all four individually, also reminding the entire squad of their obligations via a WhatsApp group through which the club’s management and executive team communicate with them on a daily basis.
The government has said exercise can only be taken alone or with cohabitants while any outdoors activity should be conducted more than two metres away from those you do not live with.
