That must have been one expensive cigarette
A good morning to you all and reports filtering in say that Arsenal prankster Szczesny is leaving on loan to Roma. Many may remember when he made his debut for Arsenal against none other than Manchester United. If i remember clearly, Wayne Rooney skied a penalty that day and many were hailing Szczeny as one for the future.
Fast forward a number of years and here we are signing Petr Cech and seemingly sending Szczesny out. The fan base is divided over him. Some will tell you he has a lot of potential and just needs to hone his skills properly, others will tell you he has always been poor and deserves to be let go.
I guess you might find your answer somewhere in the middle; true he hasn’t developed in the way we might have wanted, but also he did share the golden glove with Cech only two seasons ago. I feel sometimes as fans we have a tendency to be hypocrites, we bemoan the lack of loyalty by players to the club, but we ourselves hardly ever show loyalty to players.
I feel Szczesny is one of those, not as spectacular as the fans want therefore he’s shit and should go and anyone with another view is a deluded fan and the reason Arsenal haven’t won the premier league or Champions League. It is hoped that this is more of a Courtois situation than a…well someone we’re sending out.
On the upside, Roma is a champions league club that will be competing in the top end of the league, if he is a regular for them it will be awesome experience for him and he has a chance to really show himself and prove his doubters wrong.
All i can say is that all the best…if indeed the transfer is true. In Morgan De Sanctis, Szczesny has a great veteran to learn from and improve under. The hope is that Roma give him enough game time to develop enough as it would not make any sense if he goes to Roma to be on the bench. It would be nice if he could grow and come back and do well for Arsenal, if that doesn’t happen well…we’ll always remember that Liverpool game.
We’ll know more soon enough. Till then
